What we think is one thing. What other people are saying is different.

Let's post it here.

The "others" have no idea....

That is pretty close to the truth. The lack of reaction should tell everyone how significant this is not. The city and the administration did not make a national media event out of this. I don't know if it is because they didn't want it or because they failed.

As a season ticket holder since 1989, it's a BIG deal to me and our group. Away with your nonsense, this is the University going to the next level.

Claw - just curious, do you have season tickets?

I had season tickets when I lived in the area. I have not for 12 years or so since I moved away.

I've seen Tiger Lane. It's wonderful. This will be nice too. Enjoy it. But 25 years from now it will much more than likely be run down from lack of maintenance. The Liberty Park facilities will likely be in the same condition. The city will come BACK to the university for more money - and why not? We give it to them! We are idiots.

100, 150, 200 million we are going to GIVE AWAY instead of building something of our own that we could control and maintain. We'll get a couple of decades of decent facilities, but when they age, the city will be there again with their hand out, and apparently we'll be stupid enough to do it again.

Do you rent or own your home? Why? This is really not any different.
thats a stupid question and you know better.

First of all, any talk against the plans that are GOING to happen is stupid and counter productive.

Second , the question to own or rent is based on options. Personally - Do you own or rent the place you go to on vacation? --Most people Rent-- are they fools? of course not... they might be unable to afford a second home and they may think it is a waste of resources to spend a lot of money and effort on a place you only use 7 days per year.

BTW-- does FedEx Corporation OWN or Rent their headquarters?
Do the Grizzlies OWN or Rent their Stadium?

Here is a hint to the first question:

If you're the one demanding the improvements, why would the landlord take all of it on? Furthermore, why would you buy a house that you have already established you can't afford just to keep from renting?

Didn't think so, Claw. You're very negative about everything. Could you just be happy for once. Maybe we don't make it to the B12, but Fu$# at least we gave it a shot and have a nice stadium. Get happy, bro.

False equivalency. Because you could have just as easily been asking the same question of me. I feel the same way as Claw, and I AM a season ticket holder - multiple seats since 2001. The question he asks remains. Do you own or rent your home, and why?

I want to give you 150 million dollars.

What do you want me to do with it?

Give it to another entity to improve their property that you use seven times a year?

Ok. Gee. I wonder if they will agree to that?

We are being played for fools.

If that’s what you think then don’t support the Tigers. That’s your choice.

Not supporting this stadium proposal and not supporting the Tigers entirely independent things.

Leasehold improvements on buildings are a very common thing.

Exactly, in the business world today most companies don’t own their headquarters anymore they lease them & spend more on leasehold improvements than the landlord does.
Last time I checked college football was a big business, the B12 asked the UM to show commitment by spending money on FB, not free load off of city spending money, & UM FB will be primary benefactor of leasehold improvements by being main tenant so makes perfect sense they pay for most of improvements. It is extremely unlikely the B12 cares wether we own the stadium or not, but what is important we are showing we are committed to spending money to improve the game day venue for FB especially since the current condition of it is believed to be outdated & in need of improvements.

What about the plans for a hotel and retail that were being discussed a couple years ago? Is that still on the table as well?

Bad hint. Not FedEx Headquarters.

Good hint:

ACTUAL FedEx Headquarters

Yes, FedEx does own their HQ, all $235 Million of it.

The univ gonna pay millions help build that too and can stay for the regular rate provided no one else reserves it first. But it will be blue, mostly.

Click here for FDX Corp Headquarters Assossor information
It's NOT a stupid question. Why would you renew your lease when the landlord wants YOU to pay for $200 million in improvements? You don't.

Bad hint. Not FedEx Headquarters.

Good hint:

ACTUAL FedEx Headquarters

Yes, FedEx does own their HQ, all $235 Million of it.

The headquarters of FDX Corp is not on Winchester,

Fred Smith and those guys offices at on Shady Grove.

The fact that they own the operations Headquaters for FedExExpress on Winchester further emphasizes my point that whether to own or rent is based on options and circumstances- there is no one size firsts all answer. FedEx follows this as do most businesses that are rational

Who owns the FXF?

The City of Memphis. It is leased by the Grizzlies.

Leasehold improvements on buildings are a very common thing.

Do you know the details of the lease?

Just curious why the Tigers lease from the Griz.

Really stupid argument anyway. Its a state (univ) and municipal (city) govt issue, not a private industry issue. Neither can br compared to an actual business in the slightest.

I believe there will be 2 hotels, a small set of apartments and the hotels will feature restaurants/bars.

one of the hotels will be next to the Kroc Center and the other which will be connected to the apartments will be across from CBU at the old Tim Mccarver/high school stadium site.

the 56 million dollar event center (phase 1) will be done by the end of the year.... (see link below)

Wrong. Look at the sign at the corner of Winchester/Hacks. It says “World Headquarters “. The Shady Grove building is officially known as FedEx Corp. Executive Offices.
