AK just spent 30 minutes in The Next Round and said the team going into 22/23 is better than last season.

Jelly's return opens the door for using that final scholarship on one more impact player.

I loved Frank Holmes. He wasn't all that talented, but his effort was off the charts. He ran like a deer, and he never took a play off.

I was watching Paul Delaney when I had the biggest case of athletic envy I've ever had in my life. We were sitting in row three, just past the visitor's bench back toward the corner and PDIII pulled down a rebound directly in front of me. He absolutely flew the length of the court and thunderdunked. I was watching with awe. I remember very well thinking to myself "I wish I could move like that, just once in my life, to see what that feels like."

Most sincere envy.

He was a nice guy, too. I'll never forget Delaney coming out in Dragonman's costume, running the T-shirt cannon at the Women's Think Pink Breast Cancer game either.

PD3 was a hell of a player. One of the best we had during the Davis era.

This is the kind of exposure that makes an at large much more likely, despite the fact that nobody will ever admit it. UAB/Jelly are both all over the place in the preseason, and that is going to go a long way come Selection Sunday, provided we don't have an abysmal season.

The hobbit is spot on.

Everyone else on here will just say UAB will never, ever get an at large because of a vast, nefarious, underworld conspiracy theory.

The fact is, UAB has not deserved an at large for the last decade based on resume. If we have an at-large worthy resume, coupled with the exposure we get from Jelly/AK/being a popular "mid major" team, we will get in.

This team should have the mindset of at large or bust. We are good enough, and should not expect or accept less.

If we want an at large type of noncon sked, we’ve got to get better teams on the schedule than WVU, South Carolina, and whatever we face in Daytona.

I don’t have an issue with having sub par high major teams on the schedule. I just don’t want them to be our marquee games. Looking at a half full arena with South Carolina coming to town

We did multiple times last year. We shouldn't have to win the CUSA tournament to get into the Big Dance is what we should expect.

We will lose a couple of road conference games if the scheduling is the same.
