I have supported UT from a distance since graduating in 65. Have attended uMiami, Tulsa, Pitt, Syracuse, Arkansas, Minnesota, Purdue, and Navy football over the years.,.plus some BB games ( Fairfield, UMBC, Drexel, George Mason) whenever I can. My question to the AD would be: what are you doing for out of Toledo and out of Ohio alums, to spur interest in athletics and be $$$$$ supporters? My gripe, up until now, NOTHING. In my opinion only during the tenure of Frank Horton did I see any move in this direction. UT claims to be a University with nationwide interests. Check your Alumni card and look at the perks for being a member. Nada! I’ve been checking mine for 57 years and haven’t seen one out of state perk.
I did win a UT football that was autographed by the team at a NY/NJ alumni gathering a few years ago. WOW!
I have not used these but....

Sounds like the business things that get set up, like the discount at Geico for being an alum of a particular university. It's not a personal touch. I don't get that from Toledo but I live close and dont really need it. I'd rather be invited to campus.
My other University, the best I can describe it is I have a "handler," lol. Someone assigned to keep contact. If I'm going to visit campus and have any needs or just to say I'm going to visit campus, my handler always finds time. Once even surprised me a visit with a Prof (on a weekend) doing research I'd be interested in. I get random stuff in the mail. When covid hit, mask showed up. Got a paper weight. Heavy too. Had to cost more to ship than to make.
A Toledo Touch (ooh,, nice fund-raising slogan): I think would be a nice care package. Nothing expensive. And not on an occasion. Just random. Boom, shows up in the mail.
Something that says UToledo and Toledo or the school a person supports or graduated from. Packos sauce or pepper, A Libbey glass, whatever. Old picture book with photos of the person's time on and near campus, of course a photo calendar. Few Universities can put up the photoes UToledo can put up.... And why don't calendars come more personalized? I KNOW when Summer starts. But days that have something significant to who sent the calendar? Never, on this date UToledo beat the snot out that school 58-.... that sort of stuff marked on the calendar plus important dates for the coming year.
Of course, none of it ever says "send money." That comes in a different envelop. Dont just send to heavy hitters. Everyone deserves a post card. Besides, light weights die and sometimes look somewhere for the money to land they trust to use it well. It's very important to tie alums with something close to their personal values and memories. Maybe a favorite Professor who passed, has a scholarship or research fund. An athlete who has set up a fund....
Now somewhere I presume, a photo was taken of message boarders and uninvited media sitting with an AD. That would probably be a nice gift.
