We better pack the place vs APP
We don't have 5 years to rekindle this rivalry. We've already split the last two years. It's on. We need 35k for this game. I hope they market the hell out of it and start from day one. Start spreading the word we're playing the mountaineers, now. Maybe some casual 'eer fans will show up thinking it's WVU. But I want to pound these guys out of contention. That is the date we need circled. We beat App and the rest falls into place nicely. They beat our first year head coach by one point after our typical 4th quarter meltdown. They spit on our players and cursed them and our fans. It's time we take back the reigns as the king of the 1-AA moveups.

I know our team is good enough. I just hope our coach and our Xs and Os can match the talent we seemingly put together. Pretty impressed with the roster, I gotta say.

Plus it's the memorial weekend.

Yeah the key is getting the fans in the stands. I think COVID has made sports an after thought to a lot of casual fans (all over the country not just in Huntington). They need to put up some billboards and hit Spotify and social media hard.

I think we go 11-1 this year.

Before this off-season, I would have said no better than 8-4, but we have went crazy in the portal. I could see anything up to 11-1. I think it mostly comes down to QB play as that's still a question mark at this point.

Fixed it LOL

I felt the same way... 8-4 or 9-3 for this year. But just like you I feel good about our Portal moves. We'll go 11-1... mark it down!

The Texas Tech transfer graduated today, so he should be at practice soon.

RE: We better pack the place vs APP
I want nothing more than 11-1 and a respectable showing at ND but there are still so many unknowns. All the pieces should be there for a good run but I say that every year, so don't listen to me.

Does anyone else think it feels kind of strange to be this excited about our conference schedule? I'm legitimately looking forward to every single opponent.

Yeah this is what it felt like to be in the SoCon. Most of the schools were all about football and every game could ruin your season and knock you out of the title hunt.

RE: We better pack the place vs APP
This is why I think we could pack the place. People know who these teams are for decades. I knew FIU from the bowl in 2011. Didn't know FAU existed. Didn't know Charlotte had any interest outside basketball. ODU, basketball again. Same with MTSU and WKU. Our last whole division I didn't even know played football till we were scheduled to play them in football, except FIU, and that was only a couple years later. We know everyone in our division, now, in the 'belt. And we have history with most of them, recent or ancient.

The fans will remember. We have 3-4 drivable away games every year and 6 home games. And alumni groups nearby all eastern opponents. We don't play App till November. We should have the bus rolling by then and some momentum build up for that game. Just need a little push and some planning to intimidate the hell out of them.
