I wouldn’t worry too much about this. The conferences will place limits on scholarships and coaching positions. I would expect the P5 to agree to some number of both.

If they don’t agree, the signing and shelving of players won’t work in the days of the transfer portal. What kid wants to sit on the bench at Alabama when they can play at Ole Miss? If a kid sticks around in Tuscaloosa to ride the pine for a career he’s not the kind of player anyone else would want anyway.

Now if they allow unlimited scholarships in basketball, that’s when it will get interesting.

Will it though?

Kids with 13th, 14th, 15th scholly -- would they ride the pine at Ginormous State U when they could play somewhere else?
