Off season pointless question for fun - would AAC fans be willing to swap
Okay, I'm bored now. Here it goes. Would AAC fans be willing to swap their top two historically successful football schools for a team in a Power 5 conference that has the least historical success rate? UCF, Houston and Cincy don't qualify since they are already leaving. I'll let you argue over who the two most historically successful teams are in the AAC. You would be swapping for one of the following -

SEC - Vandy
ACC - Duke or Wake Forest (guessing it would be one of those)
Big 10 - Indiana or Rutgers (guessing it would be one of those)
Big 12 - Kansas
PAC 12 - Washington State

Which P5 team would be worth the swap to the remaining teams? For example, say the most successful teams are Memphis and SMU. Would the rest of the AAC be willing to swap them both for a Washington State? Kansas? Vandy? etc. Obviously, some positives with a trade off for increased power in basketball or academics, etc.

No way. Memphis and SMU probably get a lot more football viewership than Kansas and Duke would, if they were playing in the conference. Kansas and Duke would bring their BB viewership and NCAA tournament credit units, but this wouldn't be enough to offset the loss of the two top FB programs.

They question is a lot easier if it were only losing one team. Two definitely makes it a head scratcher to determine if a single basketball powerhouse is worth the trade for the two best football programs. The exception of an unattractive one for one trade would be if Memphis were to return to its former glory days in basketball. Memphis has great basketball history and their football is much better than Kansas or Duke.

Temple and Memphis are the two most successful remaining teams.
