WNBA to expand
The league actually peaked at 16 teams for the 2000 and 2001 seasons, and has experienced a net loss of four teams since 2002.

If they have the metrics, go for it. But it sure sounds like their economic model doesn't really allow it.

Their media rights deal ends after this season. Luckily, for them is that the CBS which was agreed to last year runs through 2027, but even in the current agreement, owners have vast differences in wealth and it showed regarding charter flights as the Liberty were fined $500K for using them.
