Skipper and Hester have both reportedly made the roster for the Sea Dragons in the XFL.

And I see today that the USFL Memphis Showboats have reportedly signed Jon'Vea Johnson.

Gradkowski's debut as an offensive coordinator with XFL/St Louis was a bit of a mixed bag. After gaining only 61 yards over the 1st 3 quarters, they somehow managed to score 2 TDs in the final 2 minutes along with a silly XFL 3-point conversion, to beat San Antonio 18-15.

Since we are dealing with players who could not make 90 man roster of 32 NFL teams (plus very short training camp and no pre-season) play in XFL3 and USFL3 is going to be very rough at times

RE: Rockets in the NFL/CFL/USFL/AFL/Etc: 2022
So, after seeing Shakif playing in Poland this year and knowing about Terrance Owens playing in Poland and Japan, I decided to poke around and look to see if any other Rockets are/have played in Europe.

Info is sketchy on the web, so I am likely missing many, but I did find that Juwan Haynes has been playing for the Graz Giants in Austria. He also apparently appeared on the dating show Temptation Island, as indicated by this article:
https://www.americanfootballinternationa...an-haynes/

Although not a Toledo Rocket, I see that former St Francis RB Lamar Carswell has played with several teams in Europe, the latest being the Straubing Spiders in Germany and is one of the top RBs on the continent.
https://www.americanfootballinternationa...g-spiders/

And the coaches. I knew that David Odenthal has been coaching in Germany for many years, but there are some other Toledo connections I found:
- Former Rocket assistant Dave Christensen is now coaching for the Wroclaw Panthers in Poland
https://www.americanfootballinternationa...ristensen/
- Former Rocket assistant and Toledo native Kirk Heidelberg recently retired for health reasons from coaching the Hamburg Sea Devils in Germany, but later signed up to help coach the Dutch national team. He apparently has coached in Europe for a very long time for a number of different clubs.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirk_Heidelberg (in German).

So, I guess Candle has even more options if he ever wants to take his family on a tour across the pond. :)

Another former Rocket coach is now in Europe, as the Vienna Vikings of the ELF have hired John Shannon as their OC.

Had no idea so many American coaches have flown across the pond to Europe. Wonder what they pay, compared to US jobs. Also, when were their Vikings in Vienna?

Former Rocket assistant Lou Ayeni has reportedly been hired as the RB coach for the Denver Broncos. Hunt is a free agent. Wonder if there is a match there?

I wonder what the record is for different NFL camps invited to?

Hmm how does this work out? CFL draft isn't until May 2. No shot at UDFA in the upcoming NFL draft?

American players can't be drafted in the CFL. The main draft is for Canadian nationals only. In recent years they also added a Global Draft for players not from Canada or the US. American players are all signed as free agents.

CFL rosters have to have so many Canadians (at least 21), and so many globals (at least 2), and so many Americans (<20). QBs are counted separately. There are similar rules about the number of starters. They also have practice squads which also have rules on how many players from each grouping.

Now that he's signed, I don't think he can sign with an NFL team unless the Canadian team releases him, or after the season is over, although I am not 100% sure on those rules. Each CFL team also maintains a Negotiation list of some number of players (like 45 or something.) Those are typically US players, and they are free to sign with other leagues like the NFL, but if they should at some point decide to look to playing in the CFL, that CFL team has exclusive rights to try to sign them. E.g. Logan Woodside was (is?) reportedly on the Ottawa Redblacks' Negotiation list. I don't know how they determine which team gets negotiation rights to a particular player.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today (Narch 31, 2023) announce the signing of three players - American linebackers Nate Givhan. Givhan (6-4, 245; University of Toledo) comes to the Blue Bombers following a college career with the Rockets where he appeared in 47 games from 2018-22 and registered 97 total tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, 13 sacks, one interception, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Seahawks have reportedly re-signed Cody Thompson. He was a restricted free-agent this year, and Seattle did not tender him an offer, which made him free to sign with other teams, but apparently has ended up back with Seattle after all that.

Surprising and curious to see them resign a guy who has very little game experience after that many seasons. By 27 most players have demonstrated their capabilities. Hopefully we’ll see more of him on the field this season.

teams now carry off season rosters of 90 players right into end of training camp-likely his last shot at getting on season roster....but re-signing simply gives team another WR to take passes

guys on 90 man off season roster don't get paid (they will get some during training camp) so decision like this is not financial as much as it is hoping to break through to make 53 man season roster--but must be an interesting dilemma for current FAs to bypass signing with USFL or XFL for more playing time, exposure (and pay check) over sticking with spot on a NFL 90 man off season roster
