Of note, StatCast had his receivers with 8 catchable drops tonight.

The drops were unbelievable. Nobody on the Falcons can catch.

I only saw highlights and I'm thrilled for Ridder and his two TD performance. I want him to have a successful NFL career and I hope he's well on his way.

I do recall comments during some years with the Bearcats about the quality of UC's receivers and frequent "drops". While that was sometimes the case, I think it's often the type of pass that the QB delivers. The very best QB's have a talent for delivering the ball perfectly to their target receivers with amazing consistency.

Ridder's success here was unquestionable. But those of us who watched most every play the past few years also saw uncatchable high or low passes with some regularity. My only point is, the burden of the completion isn't always on the receiver.

RE: Bearcats in the NFL-2022
You’re absolutely right. The stats say 8 of the incompletions were drops, but having watched the game it’s not like they were all easy catches. A couple of them were, but the rest were moderately difficult balls an NFL WR should catch most of the time. No one will be 100% catching moderately difficult passes. So while the stats say 8, it’s probably more like 5 or 6 which should have been caught. Still disappointing if you’re a Falcons fan.

Looks like Dublanko and Beavers both had good games as well.

Huh? Not sure what your angle is here. The stats say that eight balls were catchable and dropped. These were not passes thrown 10 feet over the receivers head.

Dariann Beavers tore his ACL against the Bengals last night and is out for the season. Poor kid. In Chad's 8/20 Nightcap video, he was talking about how good of a camp Beavers was having and people talking about him being a steal in the draft.

Ridder looking sharp tonight. Seems like Atlanta commits a penalty every other play though.

I was watching the game and knew it as soon as it happened. Tough break. Hope he recovers well.

Ridder had another good performance overall. I watched most of the series he was under center as QB2. Zip and accuracy on the ball. Poise in the pocket. Reading coverages.

Saw a clip where Ridder and Sauce met up after the game. So cool to have these guys in the NFL to cheer for.

Agreed. I only saw part of the game. Was Sauce held out of the game as a projected week one starter or did he get some playing time against Ridder and the Falcons?

Sauce ran with the ones in two series against Mariotta. He was not targeted for the second straight game.

It's going to be crazy if NFL teams treat him like College teams did last year.

You have to earn that level of respect. NFL QB's will want to test him. They don't get to that level without an abundance of confidence in their abilities.

NFL quarterbacks also get to that level by picking on the easy targets. So far, their avoidance of Sauce seems to indicate they feel there are easier ways to complete a pass than by challenging him.

Agreed, but I think this is more due to the level of QB he is playing against and the corner on the other side not being able to cover an overweight baby than anything. Teams have benefits passing on the Jets like no one's business, just not on Sauce.
