Even more impressive about that article was how it mentioned that their other roommates, Derek Wolfe and Zach Collaros, have also had extremely good pro football careers. And how many of their teammates are now currently on the coaching circuit.

Had no idea you could "gift" articles to non-subscribers, thanks!

Interesting part is, i'm not even a washington post subscriber. Someone gifted it in one of the Bearcat facebook groups. I do have a NY times membership through work so will see if it lets me sometime..

Ivan Pace Jr., LB, Cincinnati: Pace measured 5-foot-10.5, 231 pounds. His weight to height ratio is fine but his arms measured just 30 1/4"; that could be a problem working against defenders in space that get their hands on him first. Fortunately for him, the tape tells the tale of a good player that will get the shot to prove it does not matter.

If that’s referring to the former Bearcat Eric Wilson, he’s had a very solid career for an undrafted free agent:
2017: Vikings (16 games played, 5 solo tackles)
2018: Vikings (16 games played, 31 solo tackles)
2019: Vikings (16 games played, 36 solo tackles)
2020: Vikings (16 games played, 62 solo tackles)
2021: Eagles and Texans (14 games played, 20 solo tackles)
2022: Packers (13 games played, 9 solo tackles)

https://www.nfl.com/players/eric-wilson/stats/career

Anyone know when the WRs run their 40s? Really looking forward to see what Tyler Scott runs…

More importantly is this stat.

Career earnings = $8,745,625

Not too bad for an undrafted player. Ivan Pace is going to surpass that. He's way under valued.

Even thought he's retired didn't feel like starting a new thread. Derek Wolfe is the guest on the world's biggest podcast today. Travis Kelce hosts SNL tomorrow.

Tyler Scott was on this week's Bearcat Bounce Podcast. He was great, and told an awesome story about OSU recruiting him and wanting to go prove himself at their camp. He told Hartline he wasn't canceling is Official Visit to UC to camp for them, and if they wanted him to offer.

Give it a listen. Great stuff.

You're so right about that interview. I hope that he has a great draft along with Tre. Both have been great bearcats.

The OSU arrogance stories from some of the Bearcats have been impressively bad. Derek Wolfe, Pead, Whyle, now TScott.

Anyone know why Josh Whyle's name keeps coming up as one of the top Fullbacks in the NFL draft? Is he really being projected as a Fullback?

Between his twitter antics during our coaching search and now Tyler's story; Hartline comes across as a major d-bag and an OSU blowhard. I wish him no success.

Based on some stories I heard from guys at Glenoak, the Hartline family thinks they can walk on water with concrete shoes.

Yeah, I understand he's got a job to do recruiting but telling Tyler that he could be the best player on UC and not get drafted is over the top. Hats off to Tyler for sticking up for himself and letting him know not every NFL player came from OSU. I'm still in the middle of the podcast but Tyler coming across as so likeable; hopefully he finds a great spot in the NFL.

Agreed. His personality and character are something I’d want on my team if I were a GM. Add in the speed, smooth route running, and hands and I’d go for him in the middle second round myself.

Let's call a spade a spade: Hartline is a big pusssy. Dane Brugler's 2023 Draft Guide rankings from The Athletic for receivers...

1 JAXON SMITH-NJIGBA, Ohio State
7 TYLER SCOTT, Cincinnati
24 TRE TUCKER, Cincinnati

Tight Ends...
11 JOSH WHYLE, Cincinnati
18 LEONARD TAYLOR, Cincinnati

That's four Cincinnati receivers to one Ohio State's in this years draft rankings. Yeah, Hartline is the shiit alright...

I didn’t like the story myself. Typical OSU dushery.

It also further confirms my belief Ohio State needs to get back to focusing on Midwest/Ohio outside 5 stars or high 4 stars elsewhere. Too many west coast soft () kids over the recent years and that won’t beat Georgia/Bama consistently or formerly Clemson and currently Michigan.

Let’s not act like the guy cant coach and recruit with the best in the country. The guy is Ohio States OC at 36 years old for a reason and players love him.

Since he’s at least been coaching at Ohio State:
2017: (Offensive Quality Control Assistant)
Round 2 - Curtis Samuel WR
Round 7 - Noah Brown WR

2018: (WR coach)
Dud year

2019: (WR Coach)
Round 2 - Parris Campbell WR
Round 3 - Terry McLaurin WR

2020: (WR Coach)
Round 7 - K.J. Hill WR

2021: (WR Coach)
Dud year

2022: (Passing Game Coordinator and WR Coach)
Round 1 - Garrett Wilson WR
Round 1 - Chris Olave WR

2023: (Offensive Coordinator and WR Coach)
Round 1- Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR

2024: (Offensive Coordinator and WR Coach)
All Possible 1st rounders:
1) Marvin Harrison Jr. WR
2) Emeka Egbuka WR
3) Julian Fleming WR
4) Xavier Johnson WR

He’s absolutely stacked the WR room the longer he’s been there and 2024 is up to players leaving early. He’s also a prime recruiter for top targets at other positions in most cases.

The dude is as legit as they come in regards to recruiting and putting guys in the draft but I do hate the OSU arrogance as much as anyone even if I went there.

Whyle had Georgia, Auburn, Tenn, Wisco style offers but Bucks and Mich were both idiots not offering.

Leonard Taylor had every blue blood there is basically and chose the Bearcats on the other hand so props to him.

RE: Bearcats in the NFL-2022
tOSU arrogance is something we've come to expect through the decades. I suspect we should be flattered now as it ramps up. That strongly suggests a level of anxiety those folks up I-71 have never experienced before--having another power conference team in THEIR state. Even worse for them, UC sits on the hilltop in the heart of what many years is the best concentration of high school talent in this state.

In the short run, I'm not suggesting the Buckeyes need to worry about their five stars getting away as they are an elite program historically. But UC playing on a big stage every Saturday, getting higher profile bowl games, and making a run at the CFP in the near future will be a whole new experience for the Buckeye faithful who have long believed this sandbox was theirs and theirs alone.

O$U did not deem Joe Burrow as worthy to see the field for three years.

I can't believe people don't make more out of that fact.
