Rumors of $8M NIL for UT qb recruit
5 star - If true $8M to play qb at UT.

All the big boys will just bid on / buy the players they want.

Is this really what we all wanted?

It’s no different than what it’s been for 50 plus years. At least now it’s out in the open

No. It is REALLY different. These boosters can write this off as a business expense now.

I have a hard time believing that for 50 years qb recruits have been getting paid 8 million dollars.

Sure they have been getting paid, but now that it is legal the numbers are getting insane.

My brother in law who graduated from USC thinks that they have lots of NIL oppotunities. Many movie monguls in Hollywood are USC alums. Parts in movies, commericals, etc for USC players.

Wondering what would be the going rate for a Freshman All-American QB?

Under the new rules can you establish, announce and publish that your particular university starting QBs seem to be receiving NILs of a certain rate - knowing, by and by, that your QB NILs are higher than the rest of the G5 QB NILs?

If our freshman all American continues to progress we will not be in competition with other G5 schools for an Io compensation, we will be in competition with top 25 programs also. They’re probably not going to publicize a number , Because it was sew discord with the other players not getting the big fat paycheck.

With instant transfer rules and with NIL payments being within ncaa rules , We had better come up with a way to pay big-time money to the big-time stars we have or we will be watching them on TV play for other teams

I don't see us, or three quarters of college football, being able to compete.

The two rule changes together make it extremely difficult to hold onto top players. Especially in football.

They say you're not allowed to use NIL for recruiting purposes, but revealing the amount of a highly paid NIL offer is exactly that.

RE: Rumors of $8M NIL for UT qb recruit
Simple solution that will allow for NIL but limit abuse.

1)NIL must be independent of the school. No school, school employee or booster of school or their family can play any part in the NIL process. This includes bans on creating, soliciting, or acting as a clearing house for NILs.

2)NIL deals must be quid pro quo as athlete must provide an actual service to the provider of the NIL. Such as representing the NIL provider before the general public. ie: in commercial.

3) the player cannot appear in uniform, wear clothing with any representation of the school, or be of the school colors or make any mention of the school while representing the NIL deal.

This allows athlete to get NIL deal and have the deal 100% separate from the school, thus making it less likely to use NIL to steer athlete to specific school.

RE: Rumors of $8M NIL for UT qb recruit
Who were the fools who actually thought paying players & the transfer portal would help Memphis?

Paying players is going to create a league for 60 to 64 schools & for the rest to drop football or step down to the FCS.
