Get Penny courtside at some of these games and get him on tv. Most of these national announcers are ex players that played against Penny and love him. They start talking about him and the job he’s doing as head coach. Positive publicity for our university and coach you simply can’t buy.

George was omnipotent and always correct LOL

I miss the stories about Archie. And Bill Battle. Dood loved him some $EC.

I'm surprised that him being a minority owner isn't an infraction 01-wingedeagle Nothing's okay, unless X; K; or Roy can do it too

Penny was at the game #5 national telecast win over Minnesota but up in a suite. Meanwhile Calipari was courtside getting all the tv announcer accolades. Say what we will about the man but he’s a genius at self promotion.

Penny had floor seats as well ... maybe he moved up to a suite later on, or maybe that was a different game. But he's definitely been courtside

Grizz help the Tigers brand (recruiting, showing up to events validates the program, our own professional locker rooms at FEF); not as much as winning but more than the damn airport.
The Tigers help the Grizzlies Brand too. The Grizz marketing wants the Grizz to be as civic participants.
Financially the two programs are incented to play nice. Rubs happen but they aren't material.
Its a natural and mutually beneficial relationship that we should at least accept if not promote. There is no value in thinking of it any other way.

Ford Motor Company's megacampus Blue Oval City will have a much greater impact on the U of M than the Grizzlies. The population growth and higher standard of living for thousands of West Tennesseans cannot be understated. It may take a decade or so, but the U of M will see increased research funding, increased student population, and greater contributions to Tiger sports programs at a level the Grizzlies couldn't even come close to matching.

Hmmmm, this is awesome to see revenue coming to the West TN area as a whole... I still feel that with the "popularity"of the Grizzlies gaining traction. This creates a buzz around the "Media" scope of Memphis, hence Memphis becomes more and more of a destination as well as a brand that "Networks" "Leagues" would like to associate with and invest in....From an "Investor"/"Investment" perspective taking advantage of the Memphis Media scope/breadth as it festers/expands due to @Grizzlies monumental exposure/popularity 07-coffee3

Wow, never knew the Memphis Maniax had that kind influence.

Guess I was only one with season tickets to both them & tigers that year.

The death of Rex Dockery was perhaps the worse thing that did happen to Tigers football. Only Tigers coach that was able to keep the top Memphis talent at Memphis.

YEP

Maybe. He had one good year. We will never know if it would have continued.

No.

Sorry, but it has to be said. The Daily Memphian, and the Commercial Appeal are either directly owned, or heavily influenced by the Owners of the Memphis Grizzlies. The losers at the worst "Hedge Fund" in America, Southeastern Asset Management.

They have been subtly grooming the Memphis Market for years. They would love nothing more than the Tigers to be nothing here. The Tiger's cost them money. Period. Every dollar that goes to the Tigers pulls money away from them.

They aren't in the business of losing money, well. They are. Cause they keep getting rekted. Chesapeake Energy? lol. get rekt losers.

They are going to sell the Grizzles in 2027 anyway, so this point is moot.

Anything that is good for the city is good for the University and vice versa. Help the Tigers get into the SEC? nope
