It's not a matter of not liking other schools. It's a matter of moving on.

Of all the 6 programs joining AAC FAU is the one head scratcher

I mean no disrespect towards FAU I just don’t see much football or basketball history their.

Nice location and facilities?

I like Boca. My folks (in their late 60's) snowbird down that way. Will be a fun trip.

RE: AAC Football Scheduling Future
Anyone’s opinions changed? Assuming it’s 3/5/5, my pick on UTSA’s rivals:

- North Texas 100%. Main rival in CUSA.

- Rice. Tulane I think it would be fun from UTSA’s perspective, but I think Tulane has better things to do. I know a lot of their fans want Memphis and UAB. Anyway, Rice seems like a safe bet for UTSA.

————————————————-

- Third team is undecided. PERSONALLY, I want UAB. It’s been a really fun two year’s with the fanbases. Last years game decided who went to the conference championship and was a classic. UAB/UTSA this year again are on the same collision course. This year’s game in Birmingham would be a sexy College Gameday pick though I know I’m dreaming. We might get each again in the conference championship with divisions being gone. Fanbases like/respect each other. I really enjoy what we get out of this matchup moreso than any other remaining teams. However, I know UAB will have its pick of the litter (Memphis obv, probably Tulane). Do UAB fans want UTSA?

- SMU? I feel like they have more important things to do. SMU fan base seems to want some mix of Navy/UNT/Tulsa/Memphis. A lot of options. I wouldn’t be opposed to this matchup if UAB is a no, but does SMU want UTSA?

- Navy, god please no. Idk a single UTSA fan that wants this matchup every year. If it was Air Force then sure, but otherwise hard pass. I’m sure Navy is getting SMU and likely Temple. If they wanted a second Texas team, PLEASE go to Rice.

My personal pick: UNT/Rice/UAB
Likely: UNT/Rice/Navy

My picks have remained constant. I need SMU (most played rivalry among all the schools in AAC v2) and want UTSA and Tulane. I have no real insight into what the conference will actually do.

These were my originals:
My Picks: Memphis, Navy, USF
Guess on AAC Picks: UNCC, Temple. USF/FAU

My guess on the AAC picks is the same. Temple is on an island. If Navy doesn't want to be stacked with East Coast teams, then we pretty much HAVE to be one of Temple's three.

I have changed my personal picks. I would prefer UNCC/USF/FAU. We don't recruit North of D.C. very heavily, but do recruit Florida pretty hard. One of the things the trolls have missed with all these "market add" jabs is that they are also placed where we recruit heavily. We want to be able to walk into a recruit's living room and tell his mom that she can watch her kid play in town locally every other year.

That's big. It's something that ECU is going to be able to benefit from in Charlotte and Miami/F. Lauderdale/Boca, and SMU in Houston and San Antonio, more than we would have in Huntington, Boone, Lafayette, or Hattiesburg.

That said, Georgia State(Atlanta) and ODU(Hampton Roads) would have been good adds in that sense. Although, Norfolk is more ECU heavy than having universal appeal. Either way, more AAC teams recruit from SE Florida than both of those and everywhere else mentioned but not chosen combined.

It appears Missouri wants to back out of visiting Memphis in 2023. Cancellation or moving the game to St. Louis is possible.

Obviously, they fear the bigger and badder Tiger. 03-wink
