I JUST went thru several years of "old school" teams fans looking down on the newer programs with all kinds of angst and woe is me in CUSA. No matter some of those newbies had beaten those schools since joining, no matter we had more conference titles then they had during their tenure in the conference they sill wailed and moaned how we didn't deserve to be in the same conference with them simply because they had started 100 years before us and had some success in the 60's, 70's and early 80's.

I thought perhaps with the success of UCF being a younger team and moving up I would of escaped this here in the AAC. I vainly hoped that we would be welcomed for all the possibilities we had and that we could continue to elevate the conference.

And then I see these posts.

Look, I don't think ANY of the CUSA6 that are joining have said we are coming in and going to blow this place up. All were asking for is not to put us down just because we haven't been around that long. Many of us have had success in Football and Basketball. With more exposure and more money we should be able to keep improving and perhaps continue the AAC's push to be great.

So please. stop wailing that your doom is nigh.

From one fan of a start up, successful Floridian university to another, you're either going to be bothered by the slights coming from everywhere or you're going to lean into it and piss everyone else off on purpose. Those are the only two options, unfortunately.

Well I take it back, there's a third: do nothing of consequence and get zero attention from everyone everywhere, which, imo, is the worst option of the three

I assume you are an UCF fan.

Your school will not be in the maelstrom because UCF earned a ticket out. I appreciate the magnanimity, but frankly you can afford it. IMO, you would less sanguine if UCF were in legacy AAC members' shoes.

For sure and to all the posters from the new schools, if you haven’t used it yet, you will find the ignore button on this site works marvelously and makes this board much more interesting.

North Texas doesn't play men's soccer, either. Their chicks have 16 conference championships, probably because they recruit unnaturally gigantic women:

I take great satisfaction in this forum as a whole finally coming to terms with P6 being gone. Called it months ago, and this guy was hell bent on the ACC's superiority. Don't get me wrong, I'd like us to get back to that, but be real.

The AAC is superior presently, but will be behind the MWC and about even with the SBC.

LOL.

I stay pretty much on the CUSA board for now since that is still our home. Since this was the first "official" news of teams moving I thought what the heck give it a read.
Check in here once in a while to see how our new home is going to be.

Looks like its going to be the same dynamic as the old one with just bigger and better living space. Oh well I'm used to it. It will be curious to see what happens when a CUSA6 team wins their first conference championship in one of the big 3 (Football, Basketball, Baseball) If it happens in year 1 I can't imagine the comments.

04-cheers

03-lmfao You just wrote a few minutes ago: "I don't think ANY of the CUSA6 that are joining have said we are coming in and going to blow this place up"

I did say IF, not when. 04-cheers

UCF won a football title it’s first year in the league. So it’s been done before and can probably happen again.

Well, Schiano was using it as Rutgers HC well before 2008.

He points to a speaker when he was a Miami (ewww) assistant years before that. And Elko doesn't seem to be claiming any sort of trademark or ownership.

Quick question so the remaining 8 AAC universities don't view the conference as better than the other conferences (MW, CUSA, SB, MAC) competitively even with the three schools leaving and regardless of the six schools being onboarded? Seems to me this argument puts the AAC reputation solely on the success or lack there of for the incoming institutions with no regard to success or lack there of for the current membership.

I wouldn't say that Tiger 1983's opinions are reflective of this board, the eight fanbases, nor the universities themselves.

Taking a hit from the three departures? Of course. Duh.
And the six inbounds need to get on an upward trajectory. None was deemed worth selecting as a replacement for UConn two-three years ago for instance. These additions came about because of the after-effects of UT/OU move to the SEC, and likely would NOT have without that.

But I expect the AAC to remain ahead of the mwc and undoubtedly the Sun Belt in onfield football performance (and on court MBB for that matter, even though I'll be following Navy in the Patriot League) in the very first year of the new configuration.

Wrong.

Nature of P6 changes to "GOTTA work to prove it, all over again"

The AAC lost three pillars and the replacements do not suffice to maintain the AAC's predominant standing in the G-5. For performance purposes, it would have been better to only invite UAB and Appy St. In that way, the legacy AAC would actually been strengthen (although not replacing the departed three). The other CUSA schools drain the legacy AAC.
