Is every player out to get him?

And a player who choose to transfer in and walk on just to be on the team is told to take a hike.

If this was any other previous Tiger coach most of you would be questioning his fitness to be the coach.

You ever get that grocery delivery guy straightened out?

He's right, though. The veterans were outperforming Bates in practice and were rightfully angry about their reduced minutes before the holiday break. The veterans were thrown under the bus for not being more nurturing towards Bates. This strategy burned bridges with both Bates and the veterans (was a dysfunctional lose-lose situation).

For those saying Bates will develop quickly, I wouldn't hold my breath. He shies away from contact (his preferred shot is a fadeaway three). He can't slash or shoot particularly well (even his FT percentage was low). There are just too many things to transform for him to become an entirely different player.

Lomax was never the problem. He is who he is. My issue with minutes distribution have mostly been geared toward Bates and Dandridge.

Penny’s arrangement with Bates & his loyalty to Dandridge cost him Nolley & Minott.

I disagree about Minott/Dandridge. Minott was going to be gone no matter what, I think. If he had played more minutes he would still be trying to go pro.

As much as Bates desperately needs to develop his physicality, it now seems his emotional growth is severely lacking at this point in life as well.

I can only wish him the best and sincerely hope he learns a thing or two while pursuing a professional career in basketball.

He likely would have declared but he would not have entered the transfer portal.

Foregoing Senior year of HS, is an uncalculated risk....The move was positive for Duren, for Bates, not-so-much, however still tbd...."If" Em$ had stayed, I was going to post a thread/suggest a senario that would have been "possibly" instrumental to the development of the mental/physical development of EB. Maybe it would have resonated/paid dividends 01-wingedeagle as year 2 of him could have definitely been an improvement.Maybe CPH was even more feed up with Mr. Bates' inability to harness certain habits/traits of his seedling03-idea05-nono

Didn't Bates actually leave High School TWO years early ? I seem to recall that he would have been a Jr in High School last season, and the 22-23 season would have been his Sr. Year .... that is if he had stayed in a normal High School environment ..

Well when dear ole Dad creates teams for you to be the main attraction, and magazines label you the next Durant, and the college coach hands you the team without you ever earning it, how in the world can we expect a 17/18 tear old kid to handle that perfectly. A skinny weak kid with skills that has never earned a thing was supposed to come here and be the mature adult and star for us, amazing we all thought that could happen, me included, seems really dumb now looking back.

If Emoni was the primary cancer (which is becoming evident), last year without him could have resulted in more wins/better seeding.

The members of this board have got to make up their minds one way or the other.

When he was out and someone mentioned the team played better without him the hand of God came crashing down on that poster.

How dare they make a statement about a Tiger player.

When he left and went home he was still protected from any negative comments.

It was unforgivable to say anything about a player and it is his life we had no business commenting.

So suddenly because he is supposedly on the outs with Penny he is now fair game.

At least be consistent.

I was one of the few that looked at the team with him and without him and thought he was a problem early on.

But saying so was frowned upon until according to a third party, Penny said the same thing.

I personally do not care what your position is on Bates either pro or con.

But enough of the hypocrisy that is being exhibited on the page.

Pick a position and stick with it instead of changing it to be in line with what certain others believe at the time.

Okay left turns

yep and he also likes fake rasslin' where half naked, oiled up guys rub and grab all over each other.

Do you sit around and pull stereotypes out of you anal region and throw them against wall to see what sticks? You obviously have never met me or know anything about me. I was capt of my high school wrestling team. A sport where a complete 3 round match is more exhausting than playing both ways for 4 quarters in football.

As for as raslin, I actually had the opportunity to enter the field and have seen what goes on behind the scenes and I quickly turned down the offer. It is a lifestyle with a level of depravity that would turn the stomach of most.

It's not a sport it's performance art. No different froma TV program, or a movie, or a play. When I discussed it I discuss in the same context as I would a TV show, a movie, or a play.

But keep thinking of yourself as superior because of your choice of entertainment. May remind you that we're in a group that was created for the purpose of discussing a group of sweaty males in skimpy outfits running up and down a small area with inflated piece of cow skin.

I undoubtedly believe that a summer of work from him would have produced more favorable results....However, coming in l8 and being thrown into the fire, proved as well as exposed glaring weaknesses.....Doesn't mean those weaknesses could not have been rectified or at the very least canvassed....and to me 01-wingedeagle03-idea that aspect of this scenario, lies with CPH & staff....Ofcourse there was immense pressure.....but the end-of-season "everybody get out" is telling

I've long since given up on expecting anything big out of incoming freshmen. When their star rankings are based on how they perform against 15-18 year-olds, it is not a good measuring stick as to how they will perform against 18-22+ year-olds.

I really like to see how they adjust their game to fit in against bigger, older players and fit in to the team flow. Duren was a good example of how a highly rated player can come in and adapt their game and learn how to work in the new environment. Minot was another one to a somewhat lesser degree. Bates unfortunately looked like a baby deer on roller skates at times. And he didn't seem to want to adjust because what he was doing had always worked for him before against smaller, younger opponents. JMHO

Technically, he did come in two years early but he would have been a 19 year old hs senior which is a year old than most hs seniors. He's (DOB 1/28/04) a little more than 2 months younger than Duren (11/18/03). Physically, his body need time to mature. The bigger issue is mental and emiotional.

Agreed .... Hope the young man will eventually succeed .... Hoping even more that the people in his ear will get out of the way, and let it happen naturally ...

RE: Michigan sports writer on Bates exit
I couldn’t care less if the kid succeeds. He bad mouthed Penny to recruits… split the team…abandoned that team when his minutes were justifiably cut & then bailed. Hopefully UL, or any other college program who takes him on, will experience the same dysfunctional entourage we did.

Maybe, he’s just not that good?

Didn't Bates actually leave High School TWO years early ? I seem to recall that he would have been a Jr in High School last season, and the 22-23 season would have been his Sr. Year .... that is if he had stayed in a normal High School environment
..

01-wingedeagle Hmmmm, Gr8 points....If this is the case, then it explains a lot about the maturity issues, both physical and mental....AAMOF, I saw enough flashes from EB that showed some promise.

Definitely comes with the territory, especially @ this age....Very iffy situation, to say the least....Without getting too detailed.....Duren is definitely NOT the norm 01-ncaabbs05-nono
