This source has 5 followers and is in "close to the Philadelphia" action Arizona.

Temple is not going anywhere, this is complete BS. The AAC is stronger than the A-10 and has far better exposure and money. So just stop.

I mean it's pretty clearly a joke of a tweet that was brought into a thread about something that's not actually going to happen in general.

LOL, the rickroll link didn't show up in my twitter.

My bad, the guy was openly joke trolling and I didn't catch that.

Absolutely. If Belmont becomes the next Butler, we'll invite them. If Gonzaga wants to move their campus to Cleveland, we'll invite them.

The "Belmont and Butler" comparison is interesting in that the two universities are very similar in many respects (grad/acceptance rates, endowment, campus proximity to their respective downtowns, non-Catholic Christian histories, etc.).

Disregard the Big East affiliation (hypothetically), however, and Butler hoops benefits hugely, in comparison to Belmont basketball, because 1. Butler plays in Hinkle Fieldhouse (an iconic facility) and 2. Butler has no "in-city" competition (unless you count the DI athletics program at IUPUI). True, Purdue, Indiana and Notre Dame are located not too far from Indianapolis. But Butler is basically "Indy's team" for the college sports programs located directly in that city. Belmont will always be second fiddle to Vanderbilt in Nashville. And as a fan of both BU and VU and a Nashville resident ... I know this first-hand.

The next 10 years in the Missouri Valley will be huge for Belmont. My long-time hope is for Belmont to eventually be a future member of whatever the second-best "basketball-centric" league might be (after, of course, the Big East — with which Belmont will never be affiliated).

Maybe that league in 10 years will be the Missouri Valley and Belmont will be set. Time will tell.

As a Gonzaga fan, I’m biased toward the WCC but I think you’re right so long as we’re comparing the future alignments of conferences. Today, I’d say the WCC is #3 if not #2. After BYU joins the XII, Loyola - Chicago joins the A10, and Belmont / Murray St join the MVC - the WCC is likely #4.

I feel (and many others seemingly do too) the A10 is going to get a very nice boost with the addition of Loyola, while the WCC will dip with the departure of BYU. This will firmly make the A10 the "No. 2 non-FBS football league." And if the Big East sees Nova slip (which could happen with the departure of Jay Wright) and traditional powers Saint John's and Georgetown continue to fumble and bumble about ... the A10 could close the gap some on the BE.

As a Belmont fan, I don't want to be a homer and note the MVC is going to elevate significantly with the additions of BU and Murray. Plus, the loss of Loyola will sting. So I rank the MVC at "3B."

A league I feel is underrated in men's hoops: the Ivy.

I don't think the A-10 will get a boost for Loyola. Loyola has a few nice seasons over the past 10 years, but overall, have struggled for a long period of time. They found lightning in a bottle the past few years, but the coach is gone and I can see them fall back significantly. We'll see.
