Memphis is not a rich softball talent pool.

Memphis is not a rich softball talent pool.

Neither is Mississippi. Ole Miss has one player from Mississippi on its roster.

All that's left is AAC tournament.

Losing 22-0 in single elimination tournament. Closed out season with 11 straight losses.

Wonder if they drove off and left Poole at truck stop if she could find her way back?

RE: Tigers Softball Coaches
They finished 22 games below .500, and have won 4 conference games total in the past two seasons. They didn't win a true road game all year. The ladies gave up. It's just simple. They were run-ruled in 8 of their last 10. They had a run differential of -110 in their last 10. They last time they scored 5 or more runs was their last win against Tulsa. And they only scored 6 runs total in their last 11 games.

They had an average of .249. They needs to be around .300. (Arkansas is at .342). The on-base percentage is around .322. That needs to be around .400. They also had around 255 strikeouts. If they limit that to one or two fewer strikeouts, that's going to be less than 200 for the season.

Pitching is just laughable. ERA finished north of 7. I know the ERA went way up in April. That is when the team just "gave up." However, the ERA needs to be under 4. Hopefully, under 3.5. Each pitcher allowed more hits than innings pitched. All pitchers allowed a Batting Average over .300. They also walked and hit batters a total of 238, and struck out a total of 187.

The transfer portal will be their best friend.

Why? Some of the top MLB players went the juco route. Baseball is a different beast when it comes to finding and developing talent. Maybe softball is too.
