I wouldn't look at his tweets, as he is known as a joker and a master troll and tweets stuff that has often cost investors millions. Rather look at what he says when interviewed.
He appears to be for experimentation that sounds a lot like transhumanism, and his AI statements about how advanced Tesla's AI already is. I wonder what his intentions are with Neuralink. He appeared to be fully behind the vaccines, although he stirred up some controversy by questioning the safety of the second shots.
He may be slightly right of center on political matters, but he doesn't sound like somebody who is conservative to me. Granted, he is against the nuttiness going on by the leftists who are running this asylum right now and that is good.
I'm just going to keep an eye on him and what he does.
I’m a fan but have my restraints as well.
1) He is very open minded and speaks what’s on his mind usually just like 45 did without always thinking about the consequences from the public.
2) Regarding his stances on General AI/Neuralink/etc., I’ve read and listened to a lot of him. At one point, he noted it’s the biggest threat to humanity was the singularity of AI related to general AI and who will be in control when that point happens. Obviously that likely isn’t our lifetime and even within 5 years after that moment it won’t matter who was in control but they still kind of set the directions or terms of general AI so it’s a big deal.
If you compare him to a guy like Ben Goertzel. Another genius of our time, they differ drastically. I love a lot of his work as well but in no way share his vision. He is all for transhumanism and legitimately thinks for example taking pain away from humans is awesome. Switch to turn it on and off type of thing. Elon differs so much in he always talks about the importance of human feelings/consciousness when it comes to these things. Therefore, I am all on Elon’s side when it comes to Neuralink. He usually talks about making someone hear, see, walk again instead of have whatever emotion you want. They both would agree we’ll get to a point you’ll be able to upload whatever your brain is (is that where consciousness comes from biologically? There are a few good theories) to live forever. Ben tends to think it’s a fantastic idea and you could turn your whatever off whenever you wanted if you were done with this universe. Elon not so much. He seems to seriously question everything while others are just trying to advance as quick as possible.
Therefore, I’m team Elon until I see someone I agree with even more and have been since these items became big topics in the early 2010’s but definitely am not 100% sold but I am agreeing with him more and more on a regular basis and starting to feel confident in him.
Anyway, my point is at the moment the only person I see who controls himself, questions everything, and can actually execute on these insane projects is Elon. Ben I hate his end vision but he’s done some things that are incredible and generally isn’t greedy and opens his work to whoever wants to see it or help work on it. More of an old school hippie geek, but he also married a China girl and his stances on China are just a bit WTF.
