There are A LOT of people standing in that exact same position now.

My Mother is a dyed in the wool Democrat. Has been her entire life. So much so that, she still defends Carter.

The other day she actually said to me, "I cannot believe I voted for that dumba$$ Biden, I am sorry I cancelled out your vote".

RE: Musk gets it
Musk embodies what I think a large chunk of the 30-50 year old middle class demographic in this country is. socially moderate/liberal and fiscally conservative.

I don't care what you do with your life. Don't break the law and don't tax the **** out of me so I can't enjoy my life but someone else can enjoy there's that hasn't worked for it.

RE: Musk gets it
I still have concerns about Musk, regardless of this Twitter situation. If you go back not even very far, he has made statements that make me question him and what motives he has.

I wouldn't look at his tweets, as he is known as a joker and a master troll and tweets stuff that has often cost investors millions. Rather look at what he says when interviewed.

He appears to be for experimentation that sounds a lot like transhumanism, and his AI statements about how advanced Tesla's AI already is. I wonder what his intentions are with Neuralink. He appeared to be fully behind the vaccines, although he stirred up some controversy by questioning the safety of the second shots.

He may be slightly right of center on political matters, but he doesn't sound like somebody who is conservative to me. Granted, he is against the nuttiness going on by the leftists who are running this asylum right now and that is good.

I'm just going to keep an eye on him and what he does.

Have you seen the video of where the monkey is actually controlling the joy stick with brain waves playing a video game? That is really neat stuff. Of course sucking on a banana smoothie for a reward definitely motivates the monkey.

I haven't seen that video but it sounds in line with what he said, (paraphrasing) that initially, this research would be used with people that are quadrapalegics so that they could do certain tasks using only their minds.

Well, AI and the twittersphere aside, I have also heard he's talked about purchasing Coca-Cola Co. next. No idea what the price tag on that would be, a LOT I know that.

When asked why do you want to buy Coca-cola?

So he can add the coke back to Coca-Cola.

Yea, he's kind of a nut. 03-lmfao

Yeah, he says that he has always been a nut on Twitter because that is just how his brain works.

I agree with your explanation but that is more libertarian than socially moderate/liberal IMO. I would consider socially moderate/liberal as those still wanting gov't to have the say on pronouns used at universities for example because they think there was is the only way.

I've always viewed modern libertarians as gov't has it's need but isn't efficient and facks most things up so stay out of my life and publics life as much as possible.

Most left leaners my age (25-32) I'm friends with have gone more and more towards gov't sucks get them out of our lives over the last few years and don't realize where they stand by definition.

I consider myself fiscal/foreign/economic policy conservative and socially libertarian. I don't care if your trans chick. You do you, but if your to start arguing me over rights (like using the women's bathroom) then I would say you likely have a mental illness and there are a lot of stats along with studies to back it up (if thou really wants to argue it) and are a dude so there are areas of life your going to have to follow how you were born IMO unless the loons get the madness they want.

Those labels seem to mean different things to different people, so I’ll just ask: When was the last time America had a “fiscally conservative” President, in your view? When was the last time either of the two main parties espoused a “fiscally conservative” agenda?

It’s a bit of a stretch to say it was the POTUS in this case, perhaps more than a bit. But most recent?

I’d likely have to go with Bubba, oddly.

I think it had more ton do with Newt and the mood of the Country, and the dot-com boom certainly helped. But, yea.
Since? Uhhhhhh, yea? No.

By today’s twisted standard, anyone who is against the Woke BS is conservative. Democrats and Rino Republicans whine how Republicans have moved further to the Right.

In reality if you asked Republicans what they stood for during the Reagan presidency, on most issues, Republicans today would agree.

Now do the same with Democrats. Ask Democrats during the Clinton Presidency what they stood for and compare it to what Democrats stand for today. I doubt there is little Democrats 30 years ago have in common with today’s Democrats.

The Democratic Party has been taken over by the Far Left radicals.

I'm just going to keep an eye on him and what he does.

I’m a fan but have my restraints as well.

1) He is very open minded and speaks what’s on his mind usually just like 45 did without always thinking about the consequences from the public.

2) Regarding his stances on General AI/Neuralink/etc., I’ve read and listened to a lot of him. At one point, he noted it’s the biggest threat to humanity was the singularity of AI related to general AI and who will be in control when that point happens. Obviously that likely isn’t our lifetime and even within 5 years after that moment it won’t matter who was in control but they still kind of set the directions or terms of general AI so it’s a big deal.

If you compare him to a guy like Ben Goertzel. Another genius of our time, they differ drastically. I love a lot of his work as well but in no way share his vision. He is all for transhumanism and legitimately thinks for example taking pain away from humans is awesome. Switch to turn it on and off type of thing. Elon differs so much in he always talks about the importance of human feelings/consciousness when it comes to these things. Therefore, I am all on Elon’s side when it comes to Neuralink. He usually talks about making someone hear, see, walk again instead of have whatever emotion you want. They both would agree we’ll get to a point you’ll be able to upload whatever your brain is (is that where consciousness comes from biologically? There are a few good theories) to live forever. Ben tends to think it’s a fantastic idea and you could turn your whatever off whenever you wanted if you were done with this universe. Elon not so much. He seems to seriously question everything while others are just trying to advance as quick as possible.

Therefore, I’m team Elon until I see someone I agree with even more and have been since these items became big topics in the early 2010’s but definitely am not 100% sold but I am agreeing with him more and more on a regular basis and starting to feel confident in him.

Anyway, my point is at the moment the only person I see who controls himself, questions everything, and can actually execute on these insane projects is Elon. Ben I hate his end vision but he’s done some things that are incredible and generally isn’t greedy and opens his work to whoever wants to see it or help work on it. More of an old school hippie geek, but he also married a China girl and his stances on China are just a bit WTF.

The AI worldview is kinda BS...anyone who overly believes in that nonsense is seemingly for this kind of dystopia:

Better off to avoid as much AI in your and your children's lives as possible. Screens bad, paper good, cash is king. You have been warned.

PS if you loo anywhere close to these folks, you are more part of the problem than the solution. Exercise is your friend, pharmaceuticals of all kinds and AI are some of your enemies. Remember #DemocratsHatePeople.

I have always been a liberal--a classical liberal, strong supporter of liberty, freedom, and free market capitalism.

What I have never been, and have no use for, is a leftist. Leftists are the opposite of liberals--favoring strong, overbearing central governments that crush peons into submission.
