The one thing this shows is everyone across the NCAA is so thrilled with the job Emmert has done, they gave him an extra year so he'd have the proper swan-song.

I'm not sure why sports fans want to make Emmert the villain here. He's just doing what the schools want him to. He's not unilaterally making the rules. If there is still an NCAA when the dust settles, whoever succeeds him will do exactly the same thing. That would be true if anyone who posts on this forum, including Emmert's critics, were to be given the job.

Like Roger Goodell, he's there to take the shots.

I had one brief interaction with him. In my opinion, he was a jerk. Those who I know who have had more extensive interactions were less kind than I was regarding their opinion of him and how he “led” the NCAA. He was more like an emperor or dictator with a herd of sycophants.

Your point that next person will be as ineffective may well be true. But at the very least, they should at least behave like a real leader while trying to navigate through the current mess. Further, the successor should be less distasteful as a human being.

Two names to cross off the list:

Quote:When asked if he had any interest in leading the NCAA, Sankey said, "No, I'm busy with what I do."

He wasn't the only one distancing himself from the opening. Washington State president Kirk Schulz on Wednesday issued a statement saying he is "not interested in being considered as the next NCAA president."
