It's been 6 years since announced that the YMCA building is going to be the Alumni Association.

Hey, thanks for sharing that. I had heard rumors about that space but nothing seems to have come to fruition. There are construction fences around the building right now but not much sign of activity and few updates.

I'm all in for restoring a building that has lots of aesthetic value, inside and out. My only concern for an alumni house there is lack of some adjoining parking and outdoor activity space. But those will always be issues on the hilltop and I'm glad the building will be saved.

I doubt the old law school building can be salvaged. That last renovation, now decades ago, encased the traditional, columned Taft Hall with a mostly windowless brick box. A prime footprint though for a fitting structure (or greenspace) to complement the historic Clifton Avenue face of campus so I hope UC leadership chooses wisely.

The law school building is going to get bulldozed. It's kind of a dump. That is prime real estate to be used as one of the grand entrances to campus.

Only time I've set foot in it was when I went to take my professional responsibility exam so I could sit for the bar. It was remarkable what a dump that place was.

As an undergrad we used it Phi Alpha Delta meetings. The court rooms were decent but the rest of the building was ugly.

When I was in law school at UC the full awfulness of the building was on full display. The lockers, the restrooms, the lecture halls, and the offices, the lounge. Everything about it was outdated and gross. It didn’t get much better as an alum when I came back for CLE. You know the building is bad when they host alumni events off campus and don’t dare to bring people back to that building.

It’s amazing to me how long they’ve been screwing around with placement of the law school. I can remember the stink that come out of the plan Gregory Williams had to move the law school downtown. That had to be what- 2009 or 2010?

Bolded, I agree. It might be the last opportunity to add a bit of green space to a prominent campus gateway, especially if Straight Street really gets built out as densely as the first renderings for that high rise and retail directly across Clifton Avenue (non-UC construction).

McMicken Commons and Campus Green have done wonders for creating a sense of place--now prime campus gathering spots for students, alumni, and fans. The law school footprint is much smaller than those spaces but it's hard to imagine a building of that scale or larger being shoehorned into that spot again.

Especially with the major reinvestment/development that will be going on at the old Deaconess site.

Cincinnati's no beach, so what's up with the seagulls?

A WLWT viewer captured pictures of a flock flying around stores in Colerain on Thursday.

We confirmed with the Cincinnati Zoo that these are in fact your favorite beach bird, and not just a group of impostors.

According to zoo staff, this isn't completely out of the ordinary. They said they do end up in the Cincinnati area sometimes due to weather patterns.

While we haven't confirmed exactly which type of gull we're seeing, while looking at some credible bird sites, it does appear the herring gull has a migration pattern that moves through our area during the winter.

It is "the most numerous, widespread, and adaptable of the large gulls that breed in North America," according to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

According to Reddit users, this isn't the first time the birds have swarmed stores and lots in Colerain. It looks like some flocked the city back in 2017 as well.

Many sources say they like those types of areas, like strip malls or grocery stores, because of the trash. It's a steady source of food.

But maybe this time they just heard we're about to get warm weather.

I have had some on our lake in West Chester for one day.

Those are the wonderful "Garbage Gulls" from Mt. Rumpke. They hang out at Stone Creek Center and Colerain Towne Center by 275 and Colerain.

Bad news IMHO. Two years with teams that want out. YUK! 14 teams requires divisions.
It is akin to being divorcing and living in the same house. Move on!

I hope sane heads prevail!

Highly disagree. This would likely give us our first legit home game at Nippert in FB against a blue blood since idk (was going to say Wisco with Ron Dayne), but they are a tier below.

I have plenty of other reasons but this isn't the same case as Pitt/Cuse heading to the ACC whatsoever.

Yep, we are either going to get Oklahoma or Texas at home unless the conference pulls some goofy scheduling (well within the limits of possibility).

Don’t discount the possibility that existing schools want to hog tax and ok for themselves the final two years. I don’t see them doing the incoming any favors.

UCLA was as big a brand as we've seen in Nippert during the Fickell years I suspect. Though they had fallen from being highly competitive those two years I will still call those signature wins, especially the one in the Rose Bowl.

Would the Bruins return to a series with Cincinnati? I'd like to think so. But after being swept in a home and home football and basketball series by a "G5", they may not be so eager. These are cases where I'm hoping that Big 12 membership accrues some benefits in scheduling, especially with TV in mind.

If "the alliance" is anything more than "spin" here's hoping the B12 figures one out with the SEC soon for some non-conference scheduling in football and basketball. Would UC football return to PBS to host a Georgia or Tennessee? That revenue opportunity has been too good to pass up in our past history (Oklahoma comes to mind) but maybe with UC enjoying P5 money in the near future, it's Nippert or nothing.

UC used to say 45k was breakeven to use PBS. But that predates the Suite/Club Seats being added. As a Club seat buyer going to PBS would suck unless it was a 7th home game.

After sweeping them in both football and basketball, UCLA will never return our ADs phone call for a home and home in either revenue sport.

I can't remember the last time that UC lost to a P5 team in Nippert? Some might say Louisville, but they weren't P5 at the time and neither was BYU.

That's probably the biggest reason that big schools don't want to come here and play .

If we are discounting schools that were in a conference with us at the time (Louisville, Rutgers, Pitt) and BYU (Indy) you have to go back to 2002 against West Virginia. UC was still in CUSA and WVU was in the Big East, we dropped a tough one 35-32.
