Also, one of the preseason reviews had us getting the wrong Griffis brother from Wake Forest, so it's obvious the race to be first comes at a cost to accuracy/quality. That said, Phil Steele's is easily the most thorough and genuine compilation you will find anywhere.

If you are talking about the article in College Football News, I think it had us getting the right Griffis brother, but it was wrong when talking about his contributions to last year's WF team. That said, it wouldn't surprise me if another publication did mention the wrong brother.
They said “Flip a coin between McCloud or Wake Forest transfer Brett Griffis for the top new guy from the portal. Griffis showed he could handle the passing game when thrown into the Demon Deacon fire early last year, but McCloud has more experience from his time at USF and Arizona.”

He never played a snap for WF so they were clearly confusing him with his brother who matches that description.

When I use to purchase these from the Magazine racks 20+ years ago it seemed like Steele was very inaccurate. Of course that was when we were 1AA and they had a page or two for all of 1AA.

They probably relied on just the Sports Information Director for a lot of that info. Now Phil gets that information and also meets with the staff. Just last week he said he chatted with Coach Cignetti for over an hour.

They still spend very little time/effort on the FCS teams, and it’s apparent. Steele had a decent write up on us last year, and my guess is he’ll do an even better job this year after a season in SBC and the interview with Cig
