If you actually believe this may I suggest treatment program.

Bowen basically did nothing while here, but took credit for everyone else's work.

Football hiring before he took job.

All the south campus upgrades were already in the works waiting on fund raising.

Would still on drawing board if we hadn't of gotten our own board of regents.

Basically spent his entire time here looking for another job.

best ad the football program ever had...Hoops? not so much.

What exactly did he do for football? Fuente already hired before he arrived. Search committee found Norvell. IPF was already in the planning stages waiting for fund raising. Move from CUSA to Big East/AAC already in place.

What exactly did he do?

Norvell himself said Bowen was a key to his hiring - they knew each other from prior summer camps and workshops.
(Hiring committees don't always work like you think they do.)
He lined up fundraising that RC could not.
Football began our best historical era under Bowen - whether you give him credit or not, it's still fact.
He helped negotiate us out of the Pastner fiasco that was headed to a major crash and burn.

He also had undeniable screw-ups (sexual harassment, Tubby). But net-net, his period here was as positive a period for all sports as we've experienced in my lifetime.

RE: STR - Tom Bowen Resigns as ASU AD
The bar was set super low for 'Best'.

If we call his public antics (never mind what they did to his family) the best, that's very telling on our part. He could have at least used some discretion.

The dude was an azz when it came to BB... began his reign by being openly disrespectful to our BB coach, funding got cut---funding to our conference tournament in Connecticut, for example--so that we were the only American Conference team there that had no band. We looked pitiful.

He applied for many jobs but couldn't get hired...As I understand it, the athletic dept was fixin to tank when he left....because the support from BB attendance had eroded to the point of horror. Then he had the audacity to stand in the way of hiring Penny...who was our best means of getting BB back to cranking and on its feet--so that it could support FB.

In truth, who cares. Except his family...another sad thought about his antics, imo

Brad Martin lined up increased donations, not Bowen.

Some alumni held a grudge against RC because he came in and fired Finch and said they would never be involved as long as RC was AD.

And most of that increase came from the Walton-Laurie family.

Even before that, the TSF went from less than $1 million a year before RC to over $7 million under RC.

One of the reasons Bowen left is he was forced to hire Penny when he wanted to keep Orlando.

Brad Martin and David Rudd had far more to do with the improvement of Tigers sports than Bowen.

Some of y’all seem to have an ax to grind with that poor feller. I thought he was exactly what we needed for rebuilding the athletic department those first few years. I’ve heard some of the gossip re the last few years of his tenure, but I don’t know about all of that.

Horsesh!t. Fan support for basketball was at a historical low, we were missing out on money from the Grizz for meeting attendance lvls, recruiting was tanking...there was no way we were going to be able to keep Tubby.
We were headed in the wrong direction.

Bowen liked him some Tubby.

Yeah, but at least they are consistent.
(I left out the part about cleaning up the fiscal/admin absolute mess that RC had left behind.)
