Sounds pretty well qualified to me. Sketown dbag and GRR Bronco only vote for people if they believe Trump won the 2020 presidential election.
And no one with a functioning brain actually believes Trump won the 2020 Election. You just have to be willing to publicly perpetuate the lie. That's the true test of leadership & patriotism.

No one with a functioning brain believes Biden got 81 million legitimate votes. Have you seen his poll numbers?

...i'm not sure approval numbers are the metric you want to try and go toe-to-toe on here, but you do you.

Our current Board got us into a deep hole. I'd prefer a thorough vetting process rather than jumping the gun on the first person possible.

I guess party over school, eh?

Agreed. Adding more radical leftists to the board won't help turn around enrollment. Maybe we should try something different?

Wouldn’t a hearing be a good way to vet a candidate?

It’s really not. Look around America and see all the homophobic legislation being put in place by Trump impressionists like DeSantis & Abbott. The Michigan GOP is trying to signal to their leaders & followers that they’re down with the cause.

Are you referring to the bill banning sexual teaching to kindergartners in Florida?? Do you really think that's "homophobic"? What's the problem with sticking to teaching K students the basics of language, literacy, thinking and cognitive skills.

It's not "sexual teaching" to acknowledge a student has a gay or lesbian parent. It's not "sexual teaching" to talk to a student if they are struggling with their sexuality and have nobody in their life to talk to. You're making it impossible for teachers to be good teachers.

LGBTQ kids already have it tough enough. Now you're making it illegal for anyone to help them.

Yes, the bill is extremely homophobic. "Sexual teaching" and "grooming" are just the latest buzzwords created to justify hate in this country towards people who are not white, straight, & Christian.

like I said stick to teaching the basics of language, literacy, thinking and cognitive skills and any teacher can be good. My kids teachers have never mentioned sexuality once in elementary school. Some of the best teachers I've ever come across.

Honestly, in 35 years of teaching, I have never heard of an instructor at any level teach or even talk about sexuality. This entire scenario seems to be a manufactured boogie man.

Search the internet. There's examples all over tik tok of teachers discussing it with their classes and teachers explaining how they bring it up to their grade school students.

Radical leftists= activists. He has degrees in "women's studies" (activism) and "social relations" (activism), was president of Badlands Strategies (fundraiser for activist groups), works with LGBT Detroit and Out Front Kalamazoo (activist groups)..

We need people on the board that understand the need for students to get an education that leads to a career, not becoming more woke.

Aren't there conservative activists, too? Is being an activist a bad thing? Doesn't it just mean holding a conviction and acting on that conviction to influence public policy or opinion?

Universities and educational institutions of all types have always been a hotbed for new ideas and counter culture movements. Learning, growing, building communities, trying to make the world a better place. Seems very much in line with what higher ed should be. Universities aren't just math and chemistry, they're so much more than that.

When your school is losing enrollment at a record pace, you want to keep doing the same thing and be like all the other universities that are all losing enrollment as well? Why do you think our country is saddled with millions of people drowning in student debt? Overpriced universities that force you to take "elective" classes about social justice. Getting degrees like women's studies doesn't help. How about WMU be innovative and offer streamlined degrees where you don't have to take a bunch of elective classes that serve no purpose in your field of choice?
People are no longer going to college because they don't want to be saddled with debt and a useless degree. WMU needs to realize this and take a different approach. How about allowing the new "counter culture movement" - conservatism. Most universities these days ban all conservative speakers and organizations. Free speech should be encouraged on campus, not limited to woke views only.

There is no room for conservatives in today's woke group think indoctrination camps that function as public universities.

I agree about sexuality. Acknowledging a kid has gay parents isn't discussing sexuality. It's treating that kid like a normal human being and allowing him to talk about his family. Banning a kid’s and teacher's ability do this make a teacher's job tougher.

I'm assuming your kid's teachers are allowed to talk about your kid's parents because they aren't gay or lesbian. Why can't all kids be treated like your kids?
