Even Kent State coming into town, although on a weekend, there was a lot empty seats above me and I was sitting in the 200's area.

Weren't the Golden Flashes a home Tuesday game?

I guess you haven't looked at the attendance numbers. This past season (4,533) was the 2nd best (behind 4,771 in '18-'19) in the last 6 season fans could attend. So not sure what attendance "drop" you are talking about.
Place is a third full for most games

So you think only 2,300 are at most games? 03-lmfao

My bag, what I meant to say, understanding the game was not on the weekend which would have been a better crowd, but on a Tuesday at 6. There were plenty of empty seats beyond the 200's section against the Flashes.

many games have 2500 attendance, pre conference Tues games, upper area empty, lower area not even close to being full

No need for further home games, no one goes until January.

Get road games to Indiana, Butler, St Bona and Wisconsin

Build a damn OOC resume.

Butler and St Bona would have to be home and home or I as a Coach would not play there.

Why? We need a better resume. Play 13 road games. Then at least our coach cant be hyping our 4 loss team up in early February when clearly there is nothing of merit to consider our team good, or get us ready for MAC play. And if YOU DO win some games... You can be a MWC caliber at large, who got 4 teams in.

Home games mean little for the program in December UNTIL we are an NCAA program worthy of getting teams at home. Where did 13-1 get us at home in 2021-2022? A hapenstance 1st round NIT game vs. an ACTUAL good team. WHO DOMINATED US.

The MAC requires 15 home games (14 if you play in a good holiday tournament).

Besides the point. Continue with Marshall and Richmond or whoever, but the fact we arent accepting games because Big East or A10s dont want a home and home is absured. Dont play AT ANYWHERE with a worse league than us, and go places that want a 1 and done. Until we make the NCAAs and have some leverage....

If we play all big names on the road, we will then have sh!t home games. No decent mid-major (Oakland, UDM, Cleve St, Valpo, etc.) will want to play a 1 and done at Toledo, even if it is a money game. We'll then be stuck with the D2/NAIA games, North Alabama, Jackson State, Texas Southern, SE La St.

RE: Mens BBall 2022-23 Schedule Thread
people will come see a good toledo team play marshall and bradley and richmond. valpo not bad. need a couple more like temple or st bona or cincy (who just restarted their home and home with miami). you won't get big 10 teams here anymore, but at least add a couple more teams from schools the average college sports fan knows. then, play a 2nd or 3rd big name money game on the road. We usually play 1, rarely more. it doesn't have to be a top 25 team. play at butler-historic gym, short road trip, see if notre dame with chance a game against us again?, depaul, northwestern, dayton, pitt, syracuse... the other option is to get into those second tier non-conf tournaments with a mix of good mid major and average high major teams, if you do well there you could have non-conf neutral court cred, but UT can never find a spot at one of those tables even though a couple MAC schools are in those tourneys every year. i mean, i'm not saying anything the staff and AD haven't already tried. Maybe, we see a home and home added with Illinois St.-some connections there.

Back in the Cross days we had home games with Cinci and Alabama. Oh, how I long for those days again.

You long for the days when we lost at home to Cincy by 34 points and Alabama by 17 points?

The following 2022 Myrtle Beach Invitational Tournament Field played in November is the type of pre season tournament Toledo should attempt to play in that combines some very good Power 5 Teams like Texas A&M and Colorado with strong Mid Major Programs like Loyal Chicago, Boise St and Murray St:

Boise State, Charlotte, Colorado, Loyal Chicago, Murray St, Texas A&M, Tulsa and UMass.

Fine then. We need 7 top 100 games on the road paired with anything tbh. Chicago state can come back. Filler Ws with real chalenges and possible resume builders. That Valpo, Tulane, Charlotte, Coastal tourney didnt help much either. Id argue we were the anchor team. I want to be underdogs.

How about UT staying at home during the holidays and have their own holiday tourney again. One team from the valley, A10, Horizon conference.

What would make teams want to come to Toledo for a holiday tournament, versus playing in Florida, South Carolina, Caribbean, etc???
