Unlike the calculation of units for revenue purposes, I counted only wins in the round of 64 and later (including wins in the Final Four).

Of the 630 games played, teams in the six "power" conferences won 519 times (82% of the total). Teams in five conferences widely considered to be "mid-major" won 74 (12%) and teams from the other 21 conferences won 37 (6%). Two of the five mid-majors won fewer than one game a year, leading me to call into question whether they should retain that status. The MWC won 8 games and the MVC only 5 (tying them with the MAC).

The top nine conferences ranked by total wins were:

ACC...127 (8.5)
B1G....99 (7.1)
B12....91 (7.6)
SEC....86 (5.4)
BE......61 (5.5)
PAC....55 (4.6)
WCC...27 (3.0)
A10....22 (1.5)
AAC....17 (1.2)
MWC....8 (0.7)
MVC.....5 (0.4)

Edited to show data on a per team basis.

Eight conferences and 247 teams (including 13 from P6 conferences) failed to win a single game after the play-in round. Ten of the AAC's 17 wins were by Wichita State, and none of those came in the last 4 years (only Memphis and North Texas won a game in that period).

The top ten schools (and ties) were:

27 Kansas
26 North Carolina
25 Gonzaga
24 Kentucky
22 Duke
22 Villanova
21 Michigan
18 Michigan State
17 Florida
17 Syracuse
17 Wisconsin

Can you do this Pro Rata? The conferences don’t have an equal number of members. For example, ACC, SEC, and B1G all have 14 teams. But the PAC has 12, and the Big 12 has 10.

Actually, the ACC has 15 teams, the SEC has (or rather, will have) 16 and the Big 12 will soon be aptly named.

I think your calculations are off for the Big 12. It looks like you divided the Total wins by 12 instead of 10.

Yes, I did, because they will have 12 teams, not 10, when realignment is complete. The win totals are for those 12 teams.

P6 teams without a tournament win:

ACC: Boston College, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest
B1G: Nebraska, Penn State
Big 12: BYU
PAC: Arizona State, Washington State
SEC: Georgia, Mississippi State, Missouri
BE: DePaul, St. John's

It's odd to see Wake Forest without any NCAA Tournament success in the past decade. Wake has a nice reputation for good coaches (Bones McKinney, Carl Tacy, Dave Odom, Skip Prosser) and better players (Tim Duncan, Mugsy Bogues, Chris Paul, Randolph Childress). This year's Wake team was never-the-less underrated; they deserved to be in the tournament and would have won some games. I still don't understand how a team like Rutgers got selected over Wake.

Every ACC fan’s second favorite team looks to have a bright future with Forbes. You still have to wonder what would have happened had Prosser lived because Gaudio inherited a stacked roster.

Speaking of, Wake must have uncovered some funny business with Dino considering he was like 60-30 and got canned after three seasons.
