Nigel John (@NigelJohn_NJK), a 6’10 F/C out of Eastern Oklahoma St, has committed to Arkansas Little Rock.

He averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds a game this past season.

He apparently originally signed with Washington State out of high school, but later changed that to Utah State. Also had offers from Pittsburgh and Kansas State among others back then. This time around he also had offers from Tulsa among others.

Was a 3 star recruit out of high school.

Jucorecruiting rates him the #9 Juco in the country.

INFORMATION/EVALUATION
Qualifier with 3 years to play, skilled big man that can play with his back to basket. Can be a big time player but needs to get in shape. He is comfortable in the post and can score in traffic unlike a lot of post players. He is strong rebounder. He doesn’t play above the rim that much be he can def score and has a soft touch.

Add him to a healthy DeAntonio Gordon, I'm feeling pretty good about our front court. Also, until we hear differently, Nikola could still use his Covid year to come back after an injury plagued season.

RE: News... and it's Good News!
This is from 3 years ago-

A new potential suitor has emerged to fill Mike Boynton’s remaining scholarship.

Nigel John was on an unofficial visit in Stillwater this week, recruiting analyst Ani Umana reported. John, a 6-foot-9, 250-pound center, signed with Washington State in November but has since reopened his recruitment after Washington State fired Ernie Kent.

247Sports lists two high-major offers for John: Washington State and Kansas State. However, he also boasts offers from Oral Roberts, Tulsa and Louisiana Tech. John is from Weatherford, Texas, so if John wanted to play for a high major program that was closer to home, OSU fits that mold.

I've said before that Darrell and his staff have proven they can recruit above our weight. I agree that we have to be able to keep them, but getting them here is certainly the first step in building a successful program. This one commitment already makes me quite optimistic about our first season in the OVC.
