Looking forward to tonight. Should be a lot of fun - and I agree that Section 114 is the place to be!!!

Why on earth would we go on the road to a crap ass D2 program that doesn’t seem to provide any side benefit?

RE: WBB 2022-2023 Season
Shane Mettlen talked about this in a DNR article a while back.

EDIT: Found an explanation on Shane's Twitter account, but Twitter keeps asking me to log in, and I don't want to log in on my work computer. Here's the text from the tweet from around 8:30 this morning (11/9):

"JMU plays 2 games at St Joes later. It was originally a3-team [sic] tournament, but a 4th was added making it a multi-team event by NCAA rules. That meant JMU could play one more regular season game. Too late to get a D-1 so playing in Kiki's hometown."

Game played near Kiki’s home, nice gesture that Dean Smith always did for his UNC recruits.

Reasoning makes sense for the game exemption. And while they’re at it, put it near one of your players’ hometowns.

Still wish it had been a D1 game.

They committed 15 turnovers against a D-II team. Not great. Millersville committed just one more than us.

Heading to the arena for today's game, I learned Jen Brown is the head coach at Queens and suddenly it made more sense about having this game on the schedule. Had to leave the game early, but Dukes are cruising. Still more turnovers than there ought to be but it's going to be a chicken nugget kind of game.

89-48 final. Last Qtr. saw the Dukes empty the bench.

Fun game to watch and a good chance for the Dukes to work on some things. Team seems to be meshing better each game. Everyone played and everyone scored!! And nuggets to boot.

This is the first year Queens is playing D1 ball and they are definitely a work in progress. I think they have the beginning of a good team - very feisty and assertive with several good shooters.

I had a chance to catch up with both Coach Jen and Nadine Morgan who was at the game as well. Two of my all time favorite players. Nice to see them both.

RE: WBB 2022-2023 Season
So are they doing the chicken nuggets at Chick-fil-A this year? When we got to 79 points the band didn't do there Chicken nuggets cheer and the pa announcer never said anything. I did see the Chick-fil-A ad on the video board briefly. I asked some JMU people on the way out but they said they were not sure. Been awhile since we have scored that much oin a woman's game. So should I head over to get free nuggets on Monday?

From the jmusports.com website.....

Baskets for Nuggets
If JMU scores 79 points or more during a home game, fans can use their game ticket to receive a FREE 8-piece chicken nugget from Chick-fil-A Harrisonburg on East Marketing Street. Limit one per person.

So lunch on JMU today!
