Class of 2023 PG - Layden Blocker
Top 35 junior Layden Blocker played a big game in front of a crowd of coaches for their grind it out win last night. While Blocker had a good scoring performance, what really stood out was his willingness to rebound, defend and get his teammates involved. He finished with
21 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in front of two assistants from Arkansas, Alabama head coach Nate Oats and three of his assistants, and Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway and an assistant.

Louisiana Tech basketball star Kenneth Lofton Jr. has ample interest from several major programs ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft should he choose to come back for another college basketball season, according to Stadium's Jeff Goodman. Lofton is reportedly training in Phoenix ahead of the NBA's early-entry withdrawal deadline for draft prospects and has already heard from Kentucky, Auburn, Texas, Houston, Gonzaga, LSU, Memphis, Texas A&M, USC, Ole Miss and others, Goodman reports.

Its worked fine for Houston the last 2 years to the tune of a Final 4 and an Elite 8 with 3 transfers in their starting 5 each year.

1 thought here: this list isn't put together alphabetically, geographically, chronologically.....Screw JG for burrying Memphis!! We're down below NC St, Xavier, Depaul, TCU, etc

Davis to Memphis was the rumor a month ago. As a done deal. I dunno how the NCAA stuff changes that but for what it’s worth, I’ve heard it hasn’t changed much.

I hope you aren't sharing Brook's classified top secret type information.

We haven't heard again from the last guy that did that.

Get him an Antoine Davis from Detroit who is entering the portal. As a super senior...if he scores like he has for four years...he would finish as the second all time scorer in NCAA basketball history. He would trail only Pistol Pete.

If

Q, Bates, ALo and Deandre return...

We need a shooter who can play the 3...And a big.

And if Bates still cant guard we are going to need another wing who can guard.

Could Duren possibly come back? He could conceivably play himself into the number 1 pick

I kinda doubt it. If I’m his age no way do I turn down a first round bird in the hand.

Staying and being a number one pick would cost him money.

There are limits to the amount of money they can make based on the number of years in the league...Best to get that clock started as soon as possible.

The goal is to get to the 2nd and really 3rd contract as soon as possible, that is when the crazy money comes in. To make sense he would have to be slated as a late teens early 20s pick or later this year and play himself into a top 5 pick for that kind of scenario to pay off. He is almost assured to be a lottery pick and very possibly inside the top 10 and realistically there it is extremely unlikely he could do anything (short of a Shaq like season) that would play himself into the #1 overall pick next year.

I would love to have him back but no sensible advisor is telling him anything other than he should be packing his bags and getting ready to get paid.

Don't forget the possibility of getting a '23 HS kid to reclassify. We've done that frequently under Penny...

Coastal Carolina senior Rudi Williams recently entered his name into the transfer portal and has heard from a host of schools. The 6-foot-2 point guard averaged 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists this season and has heard from Memphis, Georgia, BYU, Oregon State, Butler Mississippi St, UCF, Florida, and Cal among others.

That's what I thought. Wasn't it something like the first one is free, but subsequent ones mean you sit a year?

Anyway, if DJ wants to come crawling back, it should cost him (in my opinion anyway) playing the position we need - inside grabbing rebounds/getting putbacks - and if he starts floating out to the three-point line with his hand up wanting a feed, he gets pulled and his ass gets parked on the end of the bench. But maybe I'm just mean that way....
