Define "push out".
Tell him to leave? Very doubtful.
Refuse to make promises that he would be the focal point of the offense? Very possible.
This was my thought. Landers seems to want to be a scorer, more-so than run the offense. Lester is the opposite.

RE: Landers BOH
I seem to think that Coach Penny's mo, more now than ever....Is to make sure that players can create (when needed) as well as finish strongly @ the rim....from every position on the floor...that could be the ingredient that gets this team to newer heights...
Paging 2-3 Ja Morants
Since this is NCAA "free agency" let's pony up some NIL cabbage for Matthew Murrell....young man is a monster

First, that's his perspective. He is spinning it some way that makes him a victim - it's the name of the game.
Second, he doesn't say "asked to leave". He may lead you there, and you may make that assumption. But he doesn't say it.

From what I am hearing this was almost all Penny wanting to go in a different direction. While Landers can be difficult, he has mostly gone along with everything asked of him.

Why do you feel a need to trash the kid and try to make it look like Penny he is completely innocent?
This is a business now. The kids wanted to be paid, the kids wanted freedom of movement, the kids wanted to be treated like pros and they got exactly what they wanted. What they did not anticipate is that they are essentially no longer amateurs. And they have coaches with millions of dollars at stake with their own careers and ambitions.
Because of that I have no problem with Penny running his team like it is a business. If kids do not perform up to expectations then they have to go. If kids are a problem in the locker room and disrupt chemistry then they have to go. I have no issue with Penny pushing players out given the current state of "amateur athletics". They wanted all of the good stuff and with that they have to take the bad stuff as well...

Absolutely! If college is supposed to prepare you for life, then these kids are now getting a feel of how real life works. You don't perform to expectations, you get sent packing. No more free rides. If you want to get paid, there are consequences - might as well learn it now.
Did anyone see the article about the kid from Miami that wanted a raise in his NIL money or he was entering the portal? I think it was on ESPN somewhere. That's borderline extortion in my mind.

Where did I trash the kid - by saying he's playing the victim? And where did I say Penny was completely innocent. Lighten up.
I have no problem with YOUNG MEN - Landers is 22 years old - moving on and doing what they think is best for their careers. Now, depending on where they end up, I might declare them persona non grata (as is the case here).
The funny thing that I do call out is people jumping on his statement like it's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. But feel free to believe everything a player says as he's leaving.

Read your posts. It is never Penny truly pushing them out. It is always the players demanding playing time or certain promises/assurances and Not getting their way so leave.
And lighten up? Because I posted something in disagreement with you?

RE: Landers BOH
It's not disagreement per se. It's agenda driven jumping to conclusions without logical thought behind it.
If what happened to Nolley is what's called pushed-out---then every coach who recruits at a high level does it...
Plus that is what happens in the NBA. Nolley wants very much to get to the NBA. He and his father look at exactly what is needed for him.
Landers Nolley is arriving to the end of his college experience--we have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. If he wants what is not available to him at Memphis, or any school for that matter, the path is now freely open for him to leave. No hard feelings.
*Boogie
Fans cannot be satisfied. ON the one hand, they insist on wins; on the other, they insist that we keep players playing on our court.
What would it have taken to keep Nolley here? His father was yelling at Penny from the stands to take his son out (shoulder injury) during one of our last games

This is exactly my point. So, why act like Penny is completely blameless and did not actually push Nolley out? This is not basketball 5+ years ago where pushing a kid out required him to miss a year of basketball and transferring was a much bigger deal. Nolley's positives did not outweigh his negatives when it came to winning as far as Penny was concerned so he pushed him out. But there is no penalty for Nolley transferring. Again, the players wanted to be paid and they wanted freedom of movement but that is a two way street as a lot of players are now finding out and because of that I do not understand why we are still acting like coaches pushing players out is such a taboo thing to do.

Seems if you don't say something positive he takes it as a attack on Penny so he needs to come to his defense.
