This is just the field first? Then everything else later, correct? Once it's all complete, I'll be so happy that we went from rec league baseball to D1.

Have they started raising funds for phase 2? They don't need to wait for phase 1 to be done. Longer they wait the longer phase 2 takes. Or maybe phase 2 is 5 years down the line...

I am unfamiliar with this, so ... a nitpick ... does the ball bounce differently on artificial than natural grass? Infield = artificial, outfield = natural. Just asking.

Maintenance cost would be my guess

With the old stuff (AstroTurf), yes, there was a major difference.

With the new field turf surfaces, there's not really a difference other than you eliminate bad hops. Plus, this can be played on much quicker after a rain. And you only have to cover the dirt parts (if there even are any dirt parts). I'm not sure if the mound will be dirt or turf. I figure the home plate area will be turf.

Even so, you wouldn't see much of an issue with the old stuff on the infield since you don't really have a crossover of an infielder or outfielder trying to make a play on one and then crossing to the other.

Needless to say, no. There really isn't much of a difference that is recognizable with the new artificial turf vs natural.

Thanks. Turf analysis is not my forte (and no longer a diehard baseball fan).

That’s what bothered me about the naming rights on the convo. They said they had some offers but didn’t align on what they were looking for. Shoulda taken anything and atleast would have had some income the last 2 years and been half way through a deal with eyes on the next naming rights. The athletic dept needs whatever they can get in extra $$ wise
