In addition, the only 2 recruits we committed, Knox & Batchelor, decommitted & moved on. Our transfer roster is quite talented.
While transfers are the new normal, the steady attrition of contributing players we are experiencing is not normal.

Timberlake is clearly the most alarming yet because he is actually choosing to sit out a year.

Maybe Penny told him he's not part of the big picture. There are many reasons why he might leave.

In other words, no insider knowledge. Its no mystery. You were very silent while the team was playing well. Only happy when it rains.

Blind loyalty is never a good thing.

Neither is stupidity, but it has never stopped you. Just so you know, my loyalty isn't blind. I have reasons to be optimistic. You're another of those who've bashed Penny incessantly, and he proved you wrong. So it goes.

You have me mixed up. I have been a Penny fan always. I was for hiring him after Pastner. But if making things up helps you feel better about yourself, by all means, make stuff up.

Nonsense. I don't care to dig through your posts to show that you're not being honest, but it's all there in your history.

I think Marc’s point is a good one. He’s not claiming to be an insider. He’s just pointing out what’s going on with transfers and the reasons, or likely reasons, guys are leaving. We’ve all commented on Penny’s bizarre use of personnel.

Until Penny changes that particular situation, it’ll continue to exacerbate the transfer situation. Pretty simple to see.

My post, that he was responding to, was asking if the poster had any insider knowledge. It was that context in which I reference insider knowledge. As far as reasons go, its all speculative. Some choose the optimistic view and others the pessimistic. The truth is, no one knows the exact reasons for any player migrations, and it doesn't imply there will be no new players committing to the school or that we are looking at fielding a weak team next season.

Some posters have been consistently down on the coach, and "Mensa" is undoubtedly one of them. He tends to only post negative things about Penny and the program, hence the "only happy when it rains." Its been pretty transparent.

Actually, you responded to my initial post & I’ve never claimed to be an insider…

That being said, I do not think Penny is an effective leader, but that does not mean I don’t like him. He’s just in a role that does not fit him. The same can be said for Josh Pastner.

First, you posted immediately after I asked someone if they had inside knowledge. You did not quote any post when you responded. Context, but to the point, you have often been highly critical of the coach. Nonetheless, I believe time will prove you wrong, again.

Interesting, so you make an accusation that you cannot back up and then act like the burden of proof doesnt fall on you.

Feel free to show me bashing Penny incessantly. Otherwise you are nothing but a liar, and well, I think you are nothing but a liar who needs a sports team to achieve to make yourself feel better because you lack all self confidence and are a failure in everything you do personally.

Again wrong. I posted after Snowtiger mentioned Toppert moving to LSU, & I questioned Penny’s leadership. I have been critical of Penny, and I do question his ability to lead this program; & I think the stream of transfers is a result of this deficiency. That being said, I believe he is truly invested for the right reasons & is genuinely a good guy… hes just in the wrong role. At this point, though, it looks like we’re riding with him & I hope he develops into a better HC.

I believe you are confused about what I'm referencing. Its on the previous page. I ask about inside knowledge and then you posted immediately after. You did not reference any other posts, hence the context I mention.

At least we agree that Penny is genuinely a good guy. I disagree regarding the other aspects of your opinion. He's very green as far as collegiate coaching experience goes, but he's won the NIT outright and darn near knocked out the top seed in the NCAA tournament this year. If this isn't a clear sign of an upward trajectory and growth as a coach and leader, nothing will convince the doubters.

Name one coach who has accomplished this with four total years of coaching experience. I bet you can't. Enough said.

That notion is absurd and delusional.

Okay, then Penny is in excellent company, but you're completely wrong. He's been an assistant since 2012. That's a lot more than four years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.

No it’s not. There has been plenty of posters equating criticism of Penny’s tactics to shear distain toward Penny. That’s just crazy.

Specious argument and quite the grasp. I myself have stated that at times I personally questioned some of the decisions made by the coaching staff. The only thing delusional is your conjecture in this regard.

No it’s not. There has been plenty of posters equating criticism of Penny’s tactics to shear distain toward Penny. That’s just crazy.

Fair enough, but that isn't coming from me. I like Penny and have faith that he will continue to grow and eventually become a great coach, but he isn't immune to screwing up from time to time.

Hubert Davis

Okay, then Penny is in excellent company, but you're completely wrong. He's been an assistant since 2012. That's a lot more than four years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.

So?

Penny’s been a head coach at this level for 4 years. Davis one year.

That notion is absurd and delusional.

Are you making the case that Penny is not qualified?

For someone who brags about Mensa, you aren't very intelligent. I'm making the case that no one has as good of a track record this far into their coaching career. Prove me wrong. Penny also clearly has demonstrated an upward trajectory. First year NIT, second year postseason is cancelled, third year wins the NIT, fourth year almost beats the top seed in the NCAA. If this isn't clear to you, you can't be helped.

If you don't get the significance of experience, there is no way to explain it in a way you would understand. Compare apples to apples. Coaching experience is coaching experience. Penny has four years, Hubert has ten. Enough said.

Condescending attitudes get you nowhere, Ace.
So arrogant.

Coaching experience absolutely matters and I get your point. But 4 years of head coaching experience, especially at this level, has a massive learning curve. Has Penny learned over the 4 years? Sure probably. He’s an intelligent guy who clearly knows the game. But his sub-patterns, personnel moves certainly haven’t gotten any better. Maybe worse. That’s just not good.
