Exclamation CUSA Agreement

Conference USA will play with 11 members in 2022 and is expected to release a new schedule soon. The league has petitioned the NCAA to play a pair of Week 0 league games for health and safety reasons.

The Week 0 games help alleviate teams playing games too many consecutive games, which is inherent in the awkwardness of an 11-team league.

RE: CUSA Agreement
With CUSA's incompetence, do you think we will see a new schedule before or after the first week of June?

In the end, the league and schools agreed on a larger exit fee that was not disclosed.

Will this impact any other conference moves?
Vannini: Not likely. This was the last conference realignment domino to fall and the first to actually take place because it was the easiest. Texas and Oklahoma need lots and lots of money to leave the Big 12 join the SEC early. The three schools leaving the AAC for the Big 12 are negotiating an exit fee (reportedly in the range of $25-35 million), but that is much more expensive than C-USA.

The AAC isn’t likely to add the incoming C-USA schools until it knows when Cincinnati, Houston and UCF are leaving. Your future home needs to be in a position to accept you. That was the case for the Sun Belt and these three schools. It’s not quite the case in these other situations.

Southern Miss last played in Birmingham back in 2018 when we won our first division title, so we may not play them anytime soon at home

If we had leadership at UAB, we'd be leaving the American for the Big 12 next season.

Can’t just declare your going to the other conference, the other conference has to have a spot for you.

We all knew this was going to be the end result, just glad the posturing is over and we can all move on.

The UCONN spot has not been filled by the AAC.

RE: CUSA Agreement
I know you guys will be in a much better place in the new AAC than the current CUSA, but I think the AAC over took from CUSA, some of those schools just don’t do anything for excitement or interest. I just hope for you guys that y’all get more than a couple years with Memphis before they might move to the Big XII.

The Big XII will lose some more teams before this is over. They won’t be looking for 2 but possibly 4 or even 6 teams. I could see them looking at Louisiana and USF as well as a future addition. Colorado St could also be in the mix.

The Big 12 isn't going to be looking at Louisiana.

I’m not confident they’ll have it released by the end of August.

I know its easy to joke about it but pretty sure they already have the scheduling figured out. This was all about exit fees not keeping them here.

I'd see Sept as being a possibility

The hold up is a waiver from the NCAA to play two conference games on week zero. As soon as that comes through, they will release the schedule.

The AAC has had eleven for several years and the Big Ten did it for about 20 years. How is it such a big issue for CUSA?
