NIT Semifinals Games Thread
Well, we have two very interesting NIT F4 games this evening, live from, for maybe the last time, Madison Square Garden:
St Bonaventure vs Xavier ..... 7 PM ET
Washington State vs Texas AM .... 9:30 ET
St Bonaventure is the darling of this event so far, and are a slight favorite. But I think Xavier pulls it out.
In the P5 battle in game two, I have been touting TAMU all along, but Wazoo looks really strong. Not sure about this one.
You?

Yes, the Bonnies are the St Peters of the tournament, the crowd favorites. But right now, Xavier is woodshedding them.
Just halftiime, though ..... 38-23

That's a lot of BS though. We're not an NIT "Cinderella." We were ranked in the preseason Top 25
You're only surprised Bona beat Colorado, Oklahoma and Virginia because NET is stupid and ESPN only talks about conferences they spend money on.

Winning 3 road games in the NIT is a tough task especially with the first one being in Colorado on 2 days notice.. Not many would have expected that

Bona rallying, down 10 with 11 mins to go.
No disrespect intended, Colorado, Oklahoma and UVA are three very nice skins on the wall.

And here we come. With the home crowd.
(BTW, this is how the first three games went. Not quite a 15-point deficit, but 8-point deficits).

And 3 stops in four trips for the defense in 2 minutes and we got outscored 0-2. That should do it.
I wonder what this program would have been doing if we had Big East funding since the late 70s instead of getting blackballed by Syracuse. Xavier's budget was double ours when they were in the Atlantic 10.
The Big East is really stupid to not fund our basketball cult.

A Big East team has not won the NIT in 15 years, since WV in 2007.

I know this is only the NIT, and not the NCAA tournament, but... if Xavier wins the NIT, would X's interim coach Hayes be the first interim to win a postseason tournament since Fisher did it in the NCAA tournament with Michigan?

And that's a wrap ...
Texas AM defeats Washington State, 72-56 to set up an SEC vs Big East final with Xavier.
Game time for the final is this Thursday at 7 PM ET (ESPN).
An SEC team has not won the NIT since South Carolina in 2006.

Jonas Hayes is really a hot coaching choice now. I would suggest the Chattanooga job even though he is a Georgia native. Chatty very close to Ga. anyway.
