26 wins
Today hurts but 26 wins! And we did not lose to a non-ranked team all season.

So damn proud to be a Bronco and thankful for this team for working hard and doing it the right way.

Some of my favorite highlights this season:

5-0 comeback at Colgate.

5-2 beating of scUM at the library of Yost.

Sweep of Nodak at home.

Worrad's OT goal to send us to Minneapolis sweeping Omaha.

Beating Nodak and sending all the Hawks fans home crying in Minneapolis.

Getting our first NCAA win.

I am hoping this is an eye opener for recruiting and this is a norm for WMU hockey under Fersch and we can be here on a regular basis.

All w/ a 1st year head-coach. #1 thing needed to go deep is experience. Look at the Frozen 4 teams this year, all the usual suspects. We're getting there. Winning today would've been gravy. Happy for the state of the program. We are so close to becoming a true power. Build on this year. The foundation is there.

Yeah 1st year coach and losing a captain and a good player mid season (they overcame that and were next man up all season). The quality of the program is on a good trajectory.

We are an elite college hockey program.

A lot of firsts this year:
First NCHC Frozen Face-Off Finals appearance
First #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament
First NCAA Tournament win

Fersch is an enthusiastic coach who played for the Broncos. Kids will want to play for him.

Frank, Attard, Worrad, Passolt, Bussi, Joyaux, & Gallant took a big step for us. Hopefully, Polin, Glover, Fulp, Grainger, Larkin, Sasson, & some of the other guys who will be back make the next step.

We play in the best conference in college hockey. We have great old building with the best student section in college hockey. We have to fill every damn seat in Lawson for every game. The players deserve that from us (students, alumni, & community).

Thank you 2021/22 team!

One other random thought.

Can we get some continuity between our uniforms, logos & colors?

I know there is a 100 page thread addressing this topic. But, I just want to express it for hockey. You can't have a brown & yellow logo while wearing black & gold uniforms that have the old logo. It makes no damn sense.

Hey Western......FIX THIS!

I would LOVE to see some variation of the outdoor jerseys become full-time

ESPECIALLY the cream ones.

I'm not a huge fan of either of our current uniforms. I'm ready to concede to brown & yellow.

Make 3 uniforms with brown & yellow that resemble the following:

I like the Western Michigan across the front. Just change the color from black to dark brown. But I also like all three of the examples.

Just no damn circles with a W. UGH.....

I don't mind the front. But, I dislike the bubbly numbers.

Agree. Just dust off the mid 1980's uniforms - those were classics.

RE: 26 wins
Anyone think Bussi will stay another year?

I’d say it’s a 50/50 chance he stays.

I’m hoping he does.

We lose: Frank, passolt, worrad, attard, gallant, Rome, Kucharek.

I saw Chayse Primeau from Omaha is in the transfer portal but I doubt he comes to wmu. He’s a jersey kid so he’ll probably end up out East somewhere.

I know our roster is already top heavy from the Covid year so I doubt we will see many new faces but maybe we could land a transfer.

I think Bussi is gone. Starman said during the NCHC Tourney that NHL teams are standing in line to sign Bussi & he expected him to leave.

I'm not 100% sure Worrad, Gallant, Joyaux, & Rome are gone yet. They have the extra COVID year.

I could see Rome and possibly gallant staying another year but I can’t see joyaux, he was an absolute stud for us this year on the backend and he just seems like he’s ready for the pros. As far as worrad, he really exploded this year so maybe some teams are lining up to sign him but maybe not because wmu was the only team to give him a chance out of juniors.

I don’t know but if those stayed an extra year I think we would really be solid again next year.

I’m eager to see what Hawyerluk can do in net, I think he will be the starter next year.

Yeah, Joyaux is probably gone. Not much left to prove.

I think Worrad would be the guaranteed Captain if he comes back. If not, Polin is probably the next Captain.

I'd expect an open competition between Hawryluk & Aslanidis next year. I know Hawryluk won the back-up job, but he had less than one period of play this year. I also thought Aslanidis was pretty damn good in 20/21.

We also recently got a commitment from this kid from Canada. I wonder if he'll be on the roster next year if Bussi leaves.

Also looks like we'll have another Attard type D-man......Mitchell Miller.

I would like to see one or two of the seniors return but am not counting on it.

I know people deserve second chances but our program is coming offf of some problems of our own and I would be gun shy on this one. Don’t need any more controversy just more time to move past our current issues.

Should be interesting to see if Attard goes right to the Flyers or if he goes to the AHL first.
