NIT Final Four Reportedly Moving
The NIT Final Four has been played in NYC since 1938. Reportedly, it is moving in 2023 to some other location. Hard to believe this could be true, but we’ll see. They would have to change the logo!

Very hard to believe. That's what still makes it a big deal. The chance for guys to play in the Garden if they win 3 games. Sad if true.

Apparently it is true-

For the first time in 85 years, the NIT semifinals and finals will not be held at “The Mecca,” Madison Square Garden.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the next two years of the NIT are out for bid; and the decision to move the tournament was mutual.

@MattBrownEP
What on earth is the point of the NIT if you're not gonna put it in MSG?

@BryanDFischer
Heard a rumor about this last week. I don’t get the reason to even have the NIT if that’s truly the case.

@DWStraka49
Hate this. You'll be hard pressed to find a player that doesn't dream of playing at The Garden. NIT isn't going to become any more relevant with this move.

Unless the NCAA Transformation committee makes big changes in the NCAA. Why would the NCAA take over the NIT if it were seriously thinking of opening the NCAA Tournament up to all D1 schools. If it did that, why would it need the NIT? Could the NCAA be thinking of creating another division in D1 basketball, D1A and D1B with B consisting of mid-majors?

Who knows what the NCAA or the P5 schools have planned? They certainly aren't worried about schools like us when debating what to do in the future.

NIT final destinations that have been suggested include Hinckle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and Las Vegas. I think it would be pretty cool to have it at Hinkle and folks in Indiana would support it.

The NCAA didn’t “need” the NIT. They acquired the NIT as a resolution to litigation.

I don't worry about it anymore. I have infinite confidence in the management of big time college sports to do the stupid thing.
