Loved PJs. Imagine if he delivered to HUSKIE Stadium during the great hot dog decade long drought of 2013 - 2022. (This year was the tenth anniversary) He could ride in on his cart pulled by a pack of HUSKIES to save the day. The stadium would erupt with cheers. COGS

Are you kidding? That sounds amazing. We had the hot dog vendor on Normal near the student center. He was from the Rapp family that owned the DELICIOUS Rapp Daddy's fried chicken on Lincoln highway. No food carts on Greek Row tho. All we had was nasty ass Burritoville, while good drunk, it was disgusting sober. Greek Row used to be so lively when I went there. $5 all you can drink red solo cups.

The Great Hot Dog drought of 2013-2022. That is funny!
Actually the end should be open-ended because we do not know if there will a plentiful crop of hot dogs for the 2022-2024 sports season.

PJ's had a very good Chicago dog and filled that hot dog craving when you were missing Chicago area food.
Now beefs in DeKalb in the 80's was a different story.
Did PJ's have beefs?

Yes, PJs had beef sandwiches according to Yelp and John L.'s review

What we need in DeKalb is for Rutt's Hut from New Jersey to open a hot dog place. Rutt's is famous as the home of the "ripper" - a plump hot dog that is deep fried until the casing rips open. Now THAT'S a hot dog!

Is that a picture of the hot dog or your arteries after eating a ripper or two?

I don't think it was age, I think it looked like that from excessive self abuse.

Quote:The DeKalb City Council will hold a second listening session on the community’s ideas for the Hillcrest/Blackhawk property on Sept. 12.

As part of $4.5 million the City has invested in the Annie Glidden North neighborhood, $2.5 million was directed to acquiring and clearing the 4.9-acre property that was the former site of Campus Cinemas and the Hunter Hillcrest shopping center.

Collecting public input on the best possible uses for the property at West Hillcrest Drive and Blackhawk Road is the next step in the redevelopment process.

The Council heard from a cross section of the community during the first listening session on July 25. The second session is scheduled for the Council’s meeting on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Yusunas Meeting Room at the DeKalb Public Library.

Additional listening sessions will be held by Opportunity DeKalb, a nonprofit organization implementing the Annie Glidden North Revitalization Plan.

The input that is gathered will be used to create a development profile for circulation to prospective development interests.

Hopefully, they don't plant any trees.

They just get in the way and then die when they get covered in salt.

Drove by 2 days back and it looks so much better. Now fix the rest of the neighborhood. Start w the gas station without a roof over the pumps just 2 rusted posts. Puts Ug in ugly.

It's all residential over there. It would be good if they put a grocery store out there for students and non-students who live that way.

It is going to be really tough for anything to survive over there except maybe one or two fast food places IMO. With no traffic during summer time and less students staying around would be tough to plant a business there. Not sure what would be best positioned there. Maybe a green space/park with a small building for a business or two next to for some sort of tax rev.

So many vacancies throughout Dekalb, would hate to see more built and then just stay empty.

Definitely have to do something worthwhile with that property. The 7-11 gas station is a dump and haven for criminal activity. Maybe NIU or the city could put a small police station annex there to help deter crime. I like your idea for green space. Maybe add a dog park for residents with pets.
