Sad, but not surprising. He was in the portal last year too.
Grateful he came back and tried to give it a shot here.

I assume Luckey was referring to McBride but his post is very ambiguous.
Now there IS a big fish entering the MAC transfer portal, Tyler Cochran. If so, it belongs under that thread.

That would really suck. I don’t want to lose any of our Frosh.

It’s got to be Njie. Golson and Jihad used up their instant eligibility already.
I especially see the loss of both McBride and Njie is almost chatastrophic.

Let's be positive! Akron lost there top 8 players, and in year two Groce guided them to a winning record, year three they went dancing, and almost upset UCLA! Boals almost did as well at Ohio U! And, Heath has more head coaching experience then Groce, and Boals have combined! Let's wait, and see in year two if Heath can recruit a couple 3 stars, bring in a phenomenal transfer, and hit the JUCO's hard! We've a superster in NF...........Listen, I wasn't happy about the 10-21 record, and getting humiliated in 5 straight MAC games, but in year two a coach with Heath's experience should be able to make dramatic changes in the right direction! He's A Huron like all of us! Or an Eagle for anyone else!

‘Glory, I wish I had your optimism. This team struggled last year, and is now losing even more talent. I agree we have a superstar in Noah, but what else? Hoping the transfer portal has a bright side.
Also hoping that somehow Mo leaving (if he is leaving!) will be a blessing in disguise. He was an incredible talent particularly as a true freshman. But EMU might be more fluid with quicker bigs such as Randle and Yusuf. Plus this might open things up for pulling in Basheer- another quick big.

What evidence is there that Njie is leaving? But for the sake of discussion only might Randle be the one thinking about transferring?

RE: McBride in portal
McBride is making a huge mistake. Has but one year of eligibility. Shot just 26.7 percent on three’s for the season and only 20 percent on three’s in conference play. Worse yet, he’s missed three’s we’re all over the place. He also had the worse defensive rating of any EMU guard this season.
He thinks he’s much better than he is.

Might find it hard to get much playing time at another school. Thinks he’s much better than he is.
Seems to be a common problem with players entering the portal.

Agree - McBride is a D1 role player at best. Farrakhan got him countless wide open uncontested 3pt shots that clanked off rim. Good luck!

Tranferring has become fashionable. One gets the feeling that if a kid doesn't transfer at least once then he must be doing something wrong. I think this will settle down when enough kids end up stuck in the portal abyss and never get picked up by a new school.
My take is that McBride is at risk of being one of those players. He may have just ended his college career.

The problem with the portal is it emphasizes it's all about me. I call it Allan Iverson disease. And getting paid for likeness means I need to be a star at a star program. To heck with a coach that help me develop as a person or player or my teammates or the quality of my education. I need to be the star.
