For the vast majority of us whatever we post here is pure speculation, i doubt any of us are close to the players personally to get inside information, and young men change their minds frequently. We just don't' know, we have to guess about what seems reasonable. Of our top 7, the starters & Harris & Minott ALL of them can come back, i expect to lose 4, losing 5 would be disappointing and losing 6 would make me question if there's some internal problem. As i said in another post i expect:
i know williams, Alo and Harris can all get another year if they like, but i would be surprised if they all returned.
Duren will make more money next year that any of us.
i expect Q to return, he and Penny seem to be on the same page...
Nolley, Minott, who knows? i guess we have to re-recuit them. i hope both stay
There is a scenario where > 6 leave, including 5 of the core, and it is no indication of internal problems:
1. Duren
2. Williams - 26 years old
3. Nolley - ready to earn a check somewhere
4. Minnott - family unhappy
5. Lomax - decides to play his final year with a change of scenery
6. Big Sam - moves west with his wife
7. Camden - concerned about PT, moves closer to home
But today, I'm betting 5 total leave.

Based on comments I keep hearing attributed to his brother and cousin, I think he's most likely to leave (behind Duren).
Evidently one of them posted during the NCAA tourney "Too late to try to make #20 happy now".
Geez. “You stay classy San Diego.”

Josh is projected at best as a 2nd rounder. He has a lot of "upside" now but if you look at game film it will be pretty to identify that he is not a consistent outside shooter and he hasn't really grasped the idea of how to play defense. Those can be areas of improvement, but it will be difficult to have a good start to an NBA career without having either of those skills.
He'll have to go and get a new comfort level with all involved, gain the trust of the guards who have to get him the ball. All those things. And chances are, he'll want to go to a power conference, and the history of Memphis/AAC players moving to power conferences isn't good.
IF he stays here, he's got a comfort level with those involved. The staff knows him and he knows exactly what he needs to do to be on the floor more. There won't be the awkward feeling out process and he'll be able to move smoothly into next year.
Damion Baugh adjusted pretty well in a power conference at TCU.. He became one of the starter guards and averaged 10 pts a game for Jamie Dixon.. They should have beaten Arizona who were carried by the refs to overtime.
Baugh still can't shoot. If he had hit a few shots, they might have beaten Arizona.
Yeah. He was essentially the same player he was for two years at Memphis except he shot more, and still didn't do that terribly well. He drove a bit more with better results, but his outside shooting was still woof.
I watched the Arizona game. I was really impressed with his ball handling and passing skills when playing point.
Me, too.. But his shooting still a bit off.. He missed a couple easy layups down the wire that would have sent TCU to the Sweet 16.

RE: Article in today’s CA…
Everyone who left Memphis last year started at a PT school.
I would say that is success.
If Minot fixes his shot he is a first rounder next year.
If he is hitting 35% from 3 he is close to lottery

I thought Bates had developed a close relationship with Ja Morant? It would be a shame to break that up by moving to another school.

50/50 on Bates, LQ, and Lomax. If Landers leaves, the chance of keeping Bates increases (based on role).
He's 60/40 on Deandre coming back.
Feels strongly Lawsons, Malco, Tyler are back.
FWIW. He's right on some things, and badly wrong on others.
No one seems to have strong opinions on Camden and Big Sam. And everyone skips over Jayden assuming he's back, but I'm not so sure.
If that's the case, then I'm good with Landers moving on. Love the guy, but I just think Bates will show out wherever he is next season. Hope it's at Memphis.

It seems if Williams stays, the thought is Minott might leave, as the latter wants to start and likely won't if the former returns.

I was wrong about Minott.. I guess family was unhappy.. Weak defense hurt his playing time.. He is GONE.

Unless mom and Emoni overrule dad, Bates won’t be back at Memphis.

According to you nobody but Penny will be back next year.
Read my initial list. Unless Duren changes his mind on being a top 5 pick, looks like I’m 2/2 so far. Those arent just me spitballing. Again, it comes from someone at practice more than once a week. But say what you want. IDGAF either way.
