These officials suppose to be the best of the best for the tournament and they have been atrocious overall. Just sayin'....

I’m not sure of the rule, but calling a technical for hanging on the rim after a dunk is ridiculous. The player for Illinois had all his momentum headed out of bounds and used the rim to reverse direction. I hated that call.

“Hanging” on the rim is always supposed to be a technical, unless it was for safety purposes. I don’t have any problem with that rule, per se.
I do have a huge problem with the inconsistency of how it’s called. 98% of the time, that hang goes uncalled. I agree, it was really stupid (unless you’re going to also call about 100 other instances)

I’ve seen several complain about the flagrant 1 called on Houston, but I haven’t been able to find a clip.

Hanging on the rim is a rule that should be removed. It is a relic from an era when dunking itself was considered showboating — and even illegal for a while — and does not take into account the elite athleticism ad physics of modern basketball. When this rule was implemented, there were also no breakaway rims or backup baskets. You bent the rim, game over lol

Simple — T people up for showboating (like that guy from Bryant who literally did a chin up on the rim and then next trip down did push ups after a bucket) but otherwise let it ride.

Officiating has been bad throughout basketball.

I’ve noticed that over the back is rarely called any more. They had a replay of a call last night during the last minute of the Michigan game trying to determine who the ball went out on. All I kept seeing was how the guy from the back fouled the guy who had position for the rebound. Reaching over the back and contacting the player in front seems to not be called unless they shove the player with their hand(s).

The game is much more physical now than it was when I played back in the day.

I’ve noticed several of our CUSA regulars officiating the NCAA tourney games.
