NU the 4th seed will face #1 seed Western Michigan in the Worcester Regional Friday.

The game will be on ESPNU at noon.

#2 Minnesota will face #3 UMass in the other regional semifinal.



According to the Northeastern Hockey Blog, Northeastern is 3-1-1 all-time against Western Michigan. Last meeting was November 2013, where the teams tied in the Shillelagh Tournament (which NU advanced in a shootout then won the tournament).

Last NU win was January 2009. Last WMU win was December 1979.

WMU is a very good team. We've struggled to score against good teams this season so I think if we win it'll be something along the lines of a 2-1 Levi special.

Hoping for the best but happy to get back to the tournament again. When was the last time we've won a tournament game?

In my time following this team we've made it 4 times and are 0-4. Two times it was kind of happy to be there and we were stomped by 4+ goals. The other two times we had legit good teams and lost heartbreaking 3-2 defeats (2009 still eats at me)

This season feels a bit like just happy to be here but I know Levi has it in him to steal some games. Go Huskies!

It’s been quite awhile.

The last NCAA Tournament win since I’ve been associated with NU was my freshmen year of 1988 when we beat Lowell at Matthews. We’ve gone “ofer” since then.

Well, one of us has to win. WMU has not yet won an NCAA tournament game. Before Mankato won one last season, we were fighting for most appearances without a win. I'm hoping we get the monkey off of our back, but it doesn't look like you guys are going to make it easy.

I think this will be an extremely tough matchup for NU. WMU is big and fast.

It’s all about Levi and the defense in front. If we can push across a few goals and Levi is on his game we have a chance to win. We’re capable of doing that.

A few good games to start this tournament out. We have the early one Friday

Nice work by your guys, not a lot of teams have taken WMU off their game physically but it felt like NU did in the 2nd and 3rd. And Levi even coming close to making that last save was wild.

NU’s season ends after losing to Western Michigan 2-1 in OT.

NU tied the game with 3:20 left in the 3rd period and send it to OT, but WMU got a luck bounce that Devon Levi almost saved.
