Question on NCAA tournament credits.
Will UC and the others get any credits for this tournament.

They are members of the AAC now, but they get paid 3 years in the future I believe. The 3 teams will members of the B12.

UC and the others are not members of the B12 this year so I don't believe
They will receive any tournament credits earned by Baylor and KU etc

Does anyone know how the conference tournament shares work when you leave a conference for a new one in a transition year?

I believe the credits are owned by the conference. Departing schools will not benefit from them. But that Big XII NCAA credits check seems decent.

You are correct, the conference gets the credits and is allowed to share them between the schools as they see fit.

No, the women's tourney is rolled into a package with other NCAA sports (wrestling, gymnastics, etc.) and ESPN has the rights to the package.

RE: Question on NCAA tournament credits.
UC will get Tournament units as long as they are in the conference, so they should get this year and next one.
The AAC had 26 units coming in at about 330k each it means is about 7.8 million or about 709k per team. With Houston winning today the league will replace 2016’s 5 units with at least 5. So keep winning Houston

Next question, do we get anything out of the NIT? We won it last year, and SMU is on a roll this year. Does the conference net any money out of that?

So why play? Surely the actual team gets a financial benefit beyond travel expenses.

Extra practice and tv time

Extra practice and tv time

And TV time helps recruiting, and home games before the semis help revenue.

Okay, THAT'S the kind of thing I'm talking about. Does SMU get to KEEP the gate for yesterday? Or does that go to the NIT org?

Though keep in mind you likely wont get any of the existing Big XII credits either. It will likely start accruing the year you start. At least that's how WSU's worked .. though it's all up for negotiation.

These are great rules! If the AAC chose, it could give money from UH's play to new AAC members. So schools that are not currently members of the AAC receive money while UH gets zero.

Works both ways. Theoretically, UH,UC,UCF could get credits from Texas and OUs tourney credits but they wont because that's not how standard practice works. You give up stuff when you leave. WSU was responsible for like 90%+ of the MVC tourney credits when we left .. left them all behind.

The practice is usually you don’t start receiving payouts until you start playing and in most cases the units from schools that left are only shared by the remaining schools. If you remember the units from the Big East schools were shared by UC,USF and UConn not by the newcomers.

Yes, i would assume that will be the case here for both the AAC and the Big 12 newbies.

You still got extra practice time, hosted games and even got some viewership on ESPN+ which still more than someone not playing
