Big night for us...
even though we didn't play. Murray State blew a nine point lead, with a couple of minutes left, but ended up beating San Francisco in overtime. With St. Peters beating Kentucky, they will actually be favored to win their next game. That means the OVC has the possibility of earning 2 extra NCAA units for the next six years if Murray beats St. Peters (they have already earned one extra unit). I found the following on the internet-
Each 2022 unit is worth $338,887 paid to the conference of the participating school. Each unit has a six-year shelf life, meaning one unit this season is worth $2,033,322 overall. Those payouts are split evenly among the conference's schools.
So the OVC will earn 2 million extra dollars, over the next 6 years, but that will double that if Murray wins their next game (i.e. 4 million dollars). Divide that between 10 teams (just a guess of the number of teams the OVC will end up with) and that's 400,000 dollars for our athletic department. Chump change for P5 programs, but a nice chunk of cash for a program like ours. I was pulling hard for Murray State tonight and will be pulling just as hard for them on Saturday. The arena was 80% empty tonight, since Kentucky lost. I will be interesting to see how many Murray fans make the drive to Indy to fill some of those seats.

+1. And concerning the empty seats vacated by Kentucky fans, since there is only one session on Saturday, the slack will easily be taken up by not only Murray State fans, but also Tennessee and Michigan fans.

Stub Hub is going to make bank on the resell market for the East Regional Finals. Kentucky fans had lapped most of those up if I understood already,

That is certainly what they do! I remember when a buddy and I would pick an NCAA site in advance for the round of 64 and 32, and we would cross our fingers that Kentucky would not be sent there. That’s because they drove up the ticket prices by gobbling them all up and made it difficult and pricey to barter an upgrade with ticket brokers!

RE: Big night for us...
I've been to a couple of NCAA tournaments (Memphis; St. Louis) where Kentucky played. The number of Wildcat fans was just ridiculous. Doubt they are very happy today. I guess my son will tell me about the mood at the hospital in Lexington he works at. I know he is smiling inside with the hogs and UNC winning.
