Since he's such a mystery I don't know if we should expect him to be sitting out a year to get grades in order or something. But if he's part of the rotation he seems pretty similar to Thomas. I could see us running some 3 big lineups with him Thomas and Payton basically playing positionless basketball. I could also see us playing two of those with a more true center. Of course, it's not going to be easy to find time for a 3 big lineup with the crowded backcourt.

True, expect Santiago, Carry and Jacobs to all get major minutes. And, it would appear, Payton will play a lot. Don't forget Sullinger and Davis and, maybe, Odusipe, Hornbeak isn't all the way back yet from injury. Carpenter is a real mystery. Note that he played at two different high schools and KSU is his fourth college. Should be interesting.
Sometimes those guys that bounce around like that realize when a opportunity is going to be their last best shot, and really buy in. Other times they ride the pine then ruin the championship game with Snapchat videos.
True. Only time will tell.

Well, look who shows up at #7.
Toledo also appears at #10.
First paragraph is about the Snapchat. Team's getting respect but also has a reputation to shake.

RE: Basketball Offseason
Something we probably don't talk about enough... Gio deserves a ton of love for sticking around. It would've been very easy for him to bolt coming off a 9ppg, 4apg season with 3 years of eligibility left and Carry showing up. I would bet 90% of players today would've transfered if they were in his shoes.
Now hopefully he doesn't get COVID and have it break his jumper for a month again this year.

True. Lots of players would have entered the transfer portal. Of course, it is always possible there are non-basketball reasons he has stayed.

Granted, most D I men's football and basketball players make all their school decisions based upon their sport, but I'm sure there are some who decide to stay at a school because of a girlfriend, friends, so their family can watch them play or, yes, for a very few even academic reasons. Not 100% of them will bolt to get more playing time or because they think they can play at a higher level.

Very fascinating to see what, if any role he plays on this team. Never going to see a D1 18 ppg guy show up on our roster with less fanfare than this guy.
And, anti-zip, he didn't even get into last night's game.

Yeah what an enigma. I wonder if he's a redshirt stash for next year? Just a walk-on despite the interesting track record? Or something else. Makes me miss Dave. We'd at least know something about him.

Agree, Dave was a treasure. And now Moff is leaving. Information will be harder than ever to come by. I note that five players on the roster at the official website didn't play. Some have to be walk-ons, but assuming they have used all 13 scholarships, that means two didn't even get a minute in lopsided win.

RE: Basketball Offseason
Here's what I think...I think the two scholarship players that didn't play were Moss and Bekelja. It looked like both were in street clothes. I believe I read somewhere that the plan was to redshirt Bekelja. With how deep our backcourt is they may have decided to redshirt Moss too which honestly would seem to make a lot of sense.
Entenmann and Maiden are walk-on freshman (as far as I know). It looked like Entenmann wasn't dressed so possible redshirt as well but Maiden looked to be in uniform. I didn't notice Carpenter.

MY GUESS IS CARPENTER IS A STASH ... Moss 'should' be a redshirt IMO, not because he is behind, but because fighting for even 5-min per game this season due to backcourt depth and experience is a waste of 6-5 talent ... Entenmann is the enigma for me. Is he a 4 or a 5??? Is he an offensive guy or defensive guy?
Looks like post play by committee again this season although Hornbeack offers hope. No sure what Akeem is ... Gillespie is another mystery, but understand he is talented.
Long season. Lots of ??? still to be answered.

What is a "stash"? Akeem is working his way back from his surgery. He did get in the last game for a cup of coffee. My guess is that they are bringing him along slowly for the MAC season.

Stash = redshirt. Willing to agree about Akeem ... he does bring a solid level of interior defense.
