2022 MAC West & East college football previews (ESPN)
https://www.espn.com/college-football/in...te-players

This means the MAC West preview should be next week.

They are predicting Miami, who we play, to be the top team in the East.

They brought up the 10 year anniversary of the epic MACC between NIU vs KSU.

Quote:In 2012, 10 years ago, Kent State nearly made the Orange Bowl. The Golden Flashes had enjoyed only one winning record in 25 years before starting with 11 wins in their first 12 games. Thunder-and-lightning backs Trayion Durham and Dri Archer combined for 3,487 rushing and receiving yards and 34 touchdowns, and future Pittsburgh Steelers Pro-Bowler Roosevelt Nix powered an active defense.

Kent faced Northern Illinois in its first MAC championship game appearance, with the winner all but certain of securing a BCS bowl bid as the top-ranked mid-major. The Flashes scored 21 fourth-quarter points to force overtime, but NIU prevailed in the second OT possession, securing an Orange Bowl spot against Florida State. KSU lost head coach Darrell Hazell to Purdue and got relegated to the GoDaddy.com Bowl, the school's first bowl in 40 years.

I was at that game in Ford Field. That was the first game that turned some of my hair gray, made the rest of it fall out, and took 10 years off my life. And the fact that I got zero sleep that night certainly didn’t help. I was a total wreck the next day and had no liquor at the game.

2022 MAC East college football preview (ESPN)
And with the MAC West preview next week, anyone want to place a bet as to who will be #1 and predicted to win the MAC?

Would that be the same team that won the MAC recruiting trophy every year since the MAC became a conference? And the same team that will win the recruiting trophy until at least the year 2525 if Putin allows the world to survive?

Going against the grain here !!
Toledo will NOT win the MAC west this year, and only #4 in recruiting !!
Sorry to disappoint !!

You may know that and we may know that, but the MAC doesn’t know that. They annually love to promote their favorite team…..and the media follows suit. Trust us, it will be the same this year.

Mere nuclear armageddon isn’t going to end Toledo’s string of preseason championships. Extraterrestrial life will dig up the Rocket endowment figures and Candle’s salary and continue publishing MAC releases.

Ha! Either that or the MAC and Toledo will be the only survivors of a nuclear armageddon (no self-respecting bomb would enter Toledo anyway). Then the MAC would finally be justified in picking Toledo to win it all. Of course, that would be the only time the MAC will pick NIU…..just to give Toledo something to post on their locker room wall!

I'm sure there will something to the effect that "NIU got lucky last year" and won't win the MAC again, but maybe in a year or two because it's such a young team.
It's almost like these previews are auto-generated. Probably have NIU third behind Turdledo and CMU.
Bonus points if they used "caught lightning in a bottle", a favorite sportswriter euphemism for "luck".

As loaded as we are for this year, I actually think we will be picked to win the MAC West and the MACC in pre-season. Look forward to seeing how it plays out.

Russian bots generate the preview

Could be Russian disinformation, or then again THIS could be Russian disinformation.

I'm crossing my fingers that Russia's nuclear arsenal is as hyped as their Army is...or at least as much as Toledo's preseason hopes are...and their "vaunted" recruiting classes

Because then underdog would win again

I was wrong- ESPN once again picks Toledo to win the MAC West. Underdogs once again! CMU ahead us predicted to be 3rd.

There was NEVER any doubt! Toledo is in bed with the Ohio-centric MAC, so that's understandable. But, Toledo must have one hell of a media budget that they use to fill the pockets of the media wags. Toledo could lose half of their team and they will still be projected to win it all. I hope this happens every year - and we know it will. That means we will win it all again this year. Locker room bulletin board postings make such great motivation.
