And it's amazing since this nomination, all the people coming out of the woodwork saying that he's next to God - the same people that were part of the large chorus of those extremely critical of him. smh! People flop and change with the wind around here.

Hired John Carlson in 2019. Men's golf signed the number one recruit in Illinois a year ago.
Hired Eric Burns in 2019. Women's tennis just signed a top 50 recruiting class.
All with a budget that would make other schools laugh.
He has had a couple duds but overall a pretty good track record.
None of those things would be relevant to an "of the year award" for 2021-2022
Men's soccer 15-3-2, football 9-5, women's tennis 11-5 in the 2021-2022 school year. I would argue that it is relevant.
2 of those 3 no one cares about. I was also referring to the hires that were listed. The hire date listed has zero to do with "of the year" the programs doing well does. This would be like giving Groth AD of the year in 2003 when football was good because they hired Novak on 1996. The award wouldn't be for the hire.
I included the years only to show that they were hired by Frazier.

RE: STF nominated for Athletic Director of the year
I’m not saying one way or another on this person but to me if there’s 1 person on the current staff who would be considered for the AD’s job if old STF goes to Penn State or anywhere else it would be Debra Boughton. Is there anyone on the current staff who would be even remotely considered?

No disrespect intended, but the hiring of Olympic sport coaches, i.e., men's soccer, men's golf, and women's tennis, means zilch. IF these programs become perennial NCAA participants, then those hires have some significance, however, one could argue they're offset by his hire for women's basketball and stagnant women's volleyball program. Hammock and football success are definite feathers in his cap, but then questions arise about the attendance for football and basketball, fund-raising, and facilities.

I agree with you 1000000000% on the women’s basketball ball and the stagnant volleyball ball program comments and that’s all I’ve got to say about that.

In a lot of professional fields, anyone can nominate anyone for these awards, ie., often people nominate themselves. I don't know specifics here, but professional awards are too often mutual m-bation. In my field, many clients are nominated for awards by vendors, who all participate in these organizations.
Maybe these are legit. But, don't assume they are actually a big deal.

Part of the job of the leader of an organization is mentoring and grooming potential successors...
