Drake is good. Hopefully the Hawks win game 1 to set up that game. We will be playing on less rest. If we get past the first 2 games, we have a shot to win it.

Two schools that may be on the radar will be there in UNCG and VMI. I'm sure Jimmy and Zito can handle the pitch on their own. 04-cheers

In case you missed it, UNCG finished 9-9 in the SoCon just one year after Miller left. The CAA is better fit for UNCG and just like CofC and Elon, membership will expand their name recognition up North for student recruiting. The addition of A&T maks the South division very appealing for them. If you think there isn't discussion at UNCG about joining the CAA you don't understand universities at the administrative level.

Here is what they could be a part of.

Hampton, William and Mary, UNCG, Elon, NC A&T, UNCW, CofC

The SoCon had it's little run in basketball, but the makeup of the CAA schools has a far greater upside than those in the SoCon by every metric.

UNCG may have its' sights on "bigger things", but the only bigger thing would be the A10, and besides one coach that had them playing well, they've never been strong in basketball. Furthermore, IMO the CAA is positioning itself to rival the A10 so there would be no need to move to the A10.

We'll see what happens, but this is far from over since the next additions haven't been announced. Once the new schools come on board there won't be many options for additions in the future, so it may be now or never for UNCG.

Not me dude

I have never once said UNCG is a realistic possibility to the CAA at this point. Quite the opposite actually

SoCon has raised the exit fees. You don't vote to raise your exit fees if you're planning on leaving.

We had a chance at UNCG when we added Elon and CoC. We didn't take it and now its gone

Truth be told, UNCW has exactly one postseason tournament win, ever. Many chances to make history here.

I like our chances against VMI

Warrennolan.com shows the predicted result as a 1 point VMI win

Should be a fun game

RE: Hawks will play in CBI
Here's an interactive snippit from the local paper regarding the pay for play aspect of the CBI and how a school like UNCW makes it work financially.

Quote:The CBI is also a "pay-to-play" event. According to the contract UNCW signed for the tournament, it pays for travel and lodging (although the tournament has a deal with a local hotel at a reduced rate). UNCW also pays Gazelle Group, which runs the event, $25,000 or agrees to play in a future Gazelle-promoted event.

Gazelle runs a host of fall multi-team college basketball events (MTEs), so expect UNCW to go on a roadtrip in the future, or be part of a hosting strategy with a powerhouse program, to cover this part of the deal.

Blah blah blah, my favorite part of the article was the reference of the "Mastodons" and the author's less than sneaky nod to Bill and Ted.

The article also made VMI feel a lot like Elon, a team that shoots a bunch of 3s.

If we can avoid the 3 point contest trap, I like our chances
