The verdict of Houston 73 - UAB 65 is amazingly close to KenPom’s prediction of 74-66.

Houston’s strength in offensive rebounds has me very concerned.

Jelly game will decide the outcome

To win:

— Jelly will need to score 25+ efficiently. If it takes him 30 shots to get it, UH will gladly take that.
— We have to battle even on the boards which means we need Jemison and Buffen to play 30 minutes or more each. They are going to pick up some fouls battling the UH front line which makes it crucial those fouls are NOT silly reach-ins 90 feet from the basket or offensive fouls that any ref in a youth league would call (such as KJ plowing into the La Tech guy rather than doing a jump stop 4 feet from the basket. ARRRRGH. Can’t beat Houston if you sit 10 minutes of a half because you reached in after a rebound or couldn’t execute a jump stop when you are already at the rim!
— somebody besides Jelly is going to need to go off 10 points above their average. I dont think this will be Ertel. If I were UH he is who I would target to take away, not Jelly. I would just make Jelly work, work, work. Most likely candidates to break out, imo would be Buffen or Lovan. Both of those guys are tough matchups for UH - Lovan because he is elite in the open floor and can slash, and Bufffen because he is active and UH is a big and athletic but not real deep in the post. Getting them into foul trouble there would be huge.
