RE: NIT vs Dayton
Since Dayton's arena is unavailable because of the First Four, the Rockets will host Dayton at Savage Arena!

Toledo hosting the game because Dayton always hosts the extra 4 for the NCAA.

Tuesday?

RE: NIT vs Dayton
Looking at the A10, there are a lot of good teams, but mid-majors as well. If Richmond doesn't win the tourney, they are a one bid league too.

Dayton is in the same league. Will be a tough game. Shoot about the same amount of threes as we do, look to be good at boards, assists, blocks and steals. Size, and they use more off the bench. Home game is a real break. Will be a tough game.

Dayton was the first team out, so if Richmond loses, they’re the second A10 team in.

A lot will depend on which flyers team shows up. The one who lost to UMass Lowell Lipscomb and Austin Peay or the one who beat Kansas. They have 11 Freshman on the roster. However, the biggest question is weather starting PG Malachi Smith will play. He injured his ankle just before half in their A10 tourney loss to Richmond. Dayton was up 8 when he got hurt. He stays healthy they probably beat Richmond.

Good luck to the Rockets on Wednesday.

Let’s hope!

Not much respect from the selection committee or ESPN’s “talking heads”, who all see Dayton making it to Madison Square Garden. And our game is on ESPN+ instead on ESPN 2—they clearly don’t think its a competitive match-up.

If the Rockets come out with their heads in the right place, shoot better than they did in Cleveland, and stay out of foul trouble (VERY important), they have a shot at pulling of a big upset. Won’t be easy.

RE: NIT vs Dayton
Biggest Non Conference Home Game in years against an opponent that TK has repeatedly said will not play us! While its not The Big Dance that everyone wants and expected this season, its still a great opportunity against a high profile program who is the #1 overall seed in the NIT who would have been in The Big Dance if they had not lost in the Atlantic 10 Tournament Semi Finals yesterday against Richmond. This is also a great "springboard" to next season for Toledo with the return of its entire team. Hopefully the fans turn out and give Toledo a true home court advantage that MAC teams are not ever accorded in the NIT.

I remember that guy getting hurt, but forgot what game it was.

If my math is correct; 64 + 32 = 96. Dayton is a one seed. That makes us 93-96. Kent and OU doesn't get a sniff. Watching the rankings over the year it seemed like the MAC was better than that. I was really surprised we drew a 1 seed.

We used to play them every year in early Nichols era when Donoher was Dayton’s coach. We’ve been trying to schedule Dayton for decades since and they don’t think we are up to their caliber.

RE: NIT vs Dayton
Some general thoughts on a good break for the MBB program

- Great chance for TK to coach up our kids.
- We get a great break on a home game vs. a solid school/conference
- Will the crowd show up or are they suffering from over-hype fatigue?
- This will be a no-excuses opportunity that I hope will work out for the Rockets.

Hoping for a BIG win to help us all forget the MACC!

Looking at the NIT bracket, I looks like they tried keeping the bracket and matchups somewhat regional, not a straight up 1-68, like the NCAA tourny. So this doesn't fully mean that UT is a bottom 4 seed for the NIT.

Yes, it looks like they only seeded the top 4 teams in each region then scheduled games based off proximity instead of by caliber.

RE: NIT vs Dayton
they seeded the top 16 teams and arranged the other 16 by region. UT in arguably the toughest region Dayton, Xavier, Florida, Belmont, Vanderbilt, Iona, Cleveland St, Toledo (that's 4 teams that were on the bubble, including 2 that lots of mock brackets had making it. UT/Dayton winner vs Vandy at Belmont.

This game will depend on who wants it. Both teams are disappointed, whichever one plays with more passion will likely win.
