We get to feel like **** for them being left out. Part of me would have preferred losing so they got in and we would have ended up a 10 seed. It's a better path than an 8-9 anyway.
If I could undo it I would. They definitely deserve to be in.
Just heard Lunardi say "its been proven year after year, sunday conference tournament finals games don't matter" when it comes to NCAA tourney seedings.
SMU really needed that win on Saturday.

RE: Selection Show
Something this selection show and last year’s selection show revealed is that they won’t let any of the top 8 leagues be a 1 bid league ..
Dayton as the last out makes no sense unless you had them in on the premise Davidson won the a10
Same for Wichita last year with terrible metrics..
He literally noted “respect for the conference” as to why Dayton was 1st out
If you are in a league they respect… and it’s not an obvious 1 bid (have some teams close) they will try and get you a 2nd bid

What’s kind of funny is I think that if UConn was still in the AAC they pick up roughly the same amount of losses as in the BE and are in the same boat as SMU if they don’t win our tournament.
Instead they’re quietly a 5 seed just like Houston and everyone has forgotten that just a few seasons ago they were toe to toe with Tulsa Temple and co like the rest of us.

Brand matters. The conference was unwise to sell the Big East name.

If they get past Boise, which I think they should, I think they have a shot to dislodge the Zags. I watched the Zags v St Mary's championship game and I thought both teams played 'soft' as opposed to Memphis more rugged style. Memphis will have to make some threes and stop threes at the other end in order to win. I think they may be capable.

smu has a real path
of the 4 brackets - smu's bracket is Nicholls st, Washington st, St. Louis and BYU.. SMU is by a few gaps better than anyone in their bracket
the other 1 seeds
- Florida, Xavier, Vandy (scotty pipen jr)..with Belmont and Iona as lower seeds
- Virginia, Colorado, St Bonnies, UNT, Mississippi state
- Oregon, VCU, Utah st, Wake Forest
im not that confident that smu clears the other bracket...maybe the Florida one only because the coach left

I've said that since they left. They'd be 3rd or 4th in the AAC this year. Pretty much where they were when they left. I take solace in that when I make comparisons.
There's no Magic in their roster now that they've left us. A mid to upper tier team. Nothing more.

Right now we just need to focus on Boise. Their fans are mouthing off about how this years team isn't last years team (we beat them). Yeah and we didn't have Jalen Duren last year either.
They like to play slow and methodical. They're a good team. Disciplined. They won't try and run with us. They'll try to keep the game in the 50's.
It'll be an ugly game.

Glad to see seven P5 schools and Xavier accepting their NIT bids - - last year, there were just two and no Big East teams in the NIT.
.
So the A-10 will have four NIT teams this year: Dayton, VCU, St L., & St. Bona.
That has to be close to a record for them. With 2 in the NCAA, this is a pretty good year for the Atlantic 10.

I’ll take SMU, Vandy, North Texas and Virginia Commonwealth
At least to root for

Pretty much where we were when we left? Come on man. Ollie ran the program into the gutter and Hurley has significantly upgraded the roster from when we were in the AAC. UConn in 2018 wasn't beating the Auburn and Villanova's of the world.
