MyBB News End and Thoughts
So according to Verbal Commits, there's been a roster exodus on the Men's team and I personally do not blame them one bit.
Laquan Butler - Transfer portal
Malik Lawrence Anderson - Transfer portal
Sai Witt - Transfer portal
BJ Simmons - Transfer portal
Ismael Habib - Transfer portal

On the women's side so according to the database that Matt Brown of the extra points newsletter
Lane Lord who serves as the current head coach for the Women's team has only a year remaining. Does he survive or like most other coaches they are gone and do not survive the AD change?

May I ask why you do not blame the players? Was there friction with the current coach? Or something else?

While I do not blame players or coaches, this season's team was never fully healthy. Red Shirt players were used. I do not pay much attention to body language either but in a transitioning period especially with the passing of Lew Hill, I think in my opinion that next year is going to be another off-year and then probably then this team might survive and move on. Again it is just me.

Thanks! I do hope UTRGV rights the ship. I am glad to hear the transfers are not due to a coaching issue.

Personally, while it may take Coach Figger to win everyone over I do think he's on the path of doing so. I am still on the fence.

On the main board PistolPete has RayQuan Taylor listed as transferring.

If it's true I don't see how we can spin that one to make Figger look good. RayQuan never played under anyone except Figger, he got plenty of playing time and some WAC player of the week, and now he is leaving.

I saw this as well but I will say that Figger has rubbed a lot people the wrong way but we shall see.

What do you think about Quinton Johnson, Doc Nelson, and Shavaul Butters now shown as leaving on Verbal Commits?

Lane Lord 14-19, 8-10 in conference, only team in the conference to beat Stephen F. Austin, got to the third round of the WAC tournament. Looks like he enjoys himself at games, demeanor reminds me of Todd Lowery.

Matt Figger 8-23, 3-15 in conference, only wins were Chi State and Lamar, eliminated in the first game of the tournament. Looks like he needs a higher dose of blood pressure meds, demeanor reminds me of Dan Hipsher.

I talked to another freelance writer who still works at the monitor and we both agreed that it will take Coach Figger more than two years to make a complete turnaround... but with these additions to the portal I am starting to think that there might be something more going on.

Here is my observation with Lane Lord... since making the WAC Tournament Championship game the progress has declined in the conference tournament.

Figger being another version of Hipsher you might be on something.
I will share this story... Under the Hipsher era in the first season in the WAC a game at the fieldhouse vs Idaho Vandals, the game had gone into overtime and Hipher's son was an assistant at the time. As overtime progressed there was a made under a minute left in overtime and Hipsher's son approached the scorer's table and slapped so hard that the game officials had to restrain the whole bench. A few nights later he offered a half-assed apology to me and my co-workers but I really never liked Hipsher or his son.
